We both have colds! Not bad colds, but colds none the less. At least it’s not Covid. It’s been passing through the bus for the last couple of days, and it looks like it’s our turn now. Fortunately, I have the pharmacy of Jody to keep us feeling better soon. Meanwhile, we’re also at the beach! Last night we arrived at the Melia Resort, while technically in Torremolinos, it’s just outside Malaga on the Costa Del Sol. Our room is across the street from the bridge and we can see the Mediterranean from our balcony. This morning was a “relaxed start” which means we were able to sleep in a little, as our tour did not begin until 9:00. So we got to bed early last night and were able to sleep in today, so we ... read more

After last night’s Flamenco exhibition, it would be difficult to find anything more fun in Sevilla, so it’s time to move on again. This time we’re leaving Spain again, even if it’s just for a few hours, to visit Gibraltar, which is actually part of Britain. We can't actually bring the bus into Gibraltar, both because it’s too big to get very far, but more because the bus and our luggage inside are subject to search by British Customs and this could cause a long delay. There has always been animosity between the Spanish and British Governments, but it has really been flaring up lately due to Brexit, and this has been causing customs delays. The story goes that back in the 18th century, when Spanish king didn’t have any children, the children or grandchildren, of ... read more

Today was our second day in Sevilla, and I must say ut’s pretty great to be back where it’s warm! Some people are complaining about the heat, but we don’t mind it at all. The hotel is really nice, but somehow the Wi-Fi just sucks. It worked perfectly yesterday afternoon when we arrived, but nobody has been able to logon since yesterday. Looks like I’ll be uploading late on the bus again tomorrow. That worked out fine this morning, but it did take a while to upload the pictures. It was also very bumpy on the bus, but as soon as I finished, the road smoothed right out and was perfect for the rest of the day. This morning we headed off to the ancient city of Cordoba. We met up with our guide, Gema who ... read more

It’s time to say adios to Portugal, it’s only been a few days, but it’s time to head back to southern Spain. I’m not sure why I thought we were going to Costa-del-Sol today, but because I did, we thought it would be cold and we wore jeans. But we are actually going inland to Sevilla, were it’s hot! When we got off the bus it was 37C or 98F and that is certainly hot, even by Florida standards! But we’re now true Floridians, so we just dealt with it. Those of us from Florida, Arizona, and Texas didn’t have much trouble, but some of the northerners were dying. Sevilla is a beautiful city of about 800,000, home to the third largest cathedral cleverly named the Cathedrale de Sevilla, actually the official name is Our Lady ... read more

We left Chipiona, intending to take a ferry from Jerez de la Frontera to Cadiz, to visit my niece Salome. When we arrived at the ferry port, we found out they didn't have any ferries running today. So, Antonio decided we'd take a train instead. After a short ride across town, we bought four round-trip tickets to Cadiz, and away we went. A short time later, we pulled into one of the stations in Cadiz. We'd been in contact with my niece, who had just completed her degree in Tourism that day, and agreed to meet her just outside the station. We went across the street to a corner and waited a few minutes until Salome showed up. She gave us a short tour of Cadiz, showing us a museum, the Roman theater, and a few ... read more

We left for Ronda late in the morning, intending to stop at Zahara de la Sierra for a while first. At about 11:30am, we saw Zahara, across a large lake, clinging to a hillside. Spanish towns are quite often built on hillsides, but this one was completely on a hill and with a large lake at the bottom. We pulled over on the other side of the bridge to take some photos, then again just after we reached the foot of the town, where they had a nice overlook. We drove up into the town, but Consuelo didn't want to go very far, since the road was fairly narrow and the turns were pretty sharp. We parked in a spot designed for tourist and started walking uphill. The streets were usually pretty small, but the overlooks ... read more
