After a good night rest and a good Romanian breakfast it was time again to continue. The motorway ended at Sibiu so now we had to continue on the national roads crossing the Carpathian Mountains. There are 2 options from Sibiu to Bucharest. • The regular road E81, also known as the Olt River Valley • The Transfargarasan My colleagues from Bucharest recommended me to go via the Transfargarasan. According Top Gear this road is the best driving road of the world. It is also forbidden for trucks so you don't need to overtake slow trucks on curvy roads. And the view during the trip is amazing. So all together it is the most spectacular road of Romania. We left Sibiu toward the direction of Brasov. There are no proper descriptions to go to the Transfargarasan, ... read more

Today was all about relaxation. It rained a good part of the day, either light or heavy showers, until after I had a fancy dinner, at which point I didn't really feel like going out. And then there's the bags to pack before heading off again tomorrow. Since I didn't do much today in the way of sightseeing, I thought I'd tell you all about some of the things that you realize - about yourself, the world, etc - when you have to live out of a suitcase for this long. On days when I don't have to get up for a train or a tour that I've already paid for, I make a point of not setting an alarm. If I sleep later than normal, then apparently my body needed the extra sleep. That's one ... read more

Looking forward to some good food!

Lacul Balea lungime 360m adancime 11,35m. Cabana are 3 stele pe ... read more

Foarte aglomerat din pacate, cel putin in weekend... read more

Chiar il recomandam!... read more

Ramet Monastery is placed by the Geoagiu Valley , in the mountains of Trascau, about 20 kms away from Teius, a town in the district of Alba. The landscape surrouding it is of outstanding beauty. The monastery is important for the Romanian history and culture. The first people to mention its old age are some of the 20 th century: Nicolae Iorga, Stefan Metes, Virgil Vataseanu. They placed its beginning in the 15 th Century, as it comes out from the inscription stone above the entrance door of the church. More recent researches made use of some special techniques and discovered an inscription written on the second layer of painting which mentions the year 1377. The same inscription bears the name of painter Mihu from Crisu Alb, and what is more important, that of Archbishop Ghelasie. ... read more
