Preselili se u Hag. Pali s konja na magarca. Dobili bolji smestaj, bolju hranu i super program, ali i svaki dan po neku novu cimerku. Apsolutno razocarani gradom. Arhitekturom, ljudima, nacinom zivota. Sve je sterilno, sve gluvo, sve mrtvacki hladno. Setnja ulicama izaziva jezu, nigde zive duse, nigde nijednog bicikliste, automobili pice 300 na sat, Crnci te guraju laktovima, pijanice ti dobacuju, beskucnici prose, hocu nazad kuci...u Amsterdam... Hocu onu slobodu, prelepe kanale, opustene ljude, lude bicikliste i najlepsi osmeh u ogledalu. Ovde mi nesto oduzima vazduh, suzava pogled, isisava dusu. Jedino sto je vredelo je Tribunal. Razgovor s portparolkama, rucak za stolom pored Bramercovog, odlazak u sudnicu. Privilegovan osecaj neceg zaista posebnog. Sutra nas ceka isto, Bramerc uzivo i hard work ceo dan. Sa najvecom mogucom koncentracijom i ne zanemarljivom lakocom zadovoljstva...... read more

Today I decided to head up to Den Haag. It was part of an earlier decision as they were going ice climbing in the fake ice climbing hall. It was via a meetup with couch surfing. So I got the train to Den Haag - I did some chores before hand like looking at rooms - which nearly led me to miss the train. But I got it in the end. At the hall there was Martin and a few other people. Martin was the guy who organised it. I also met a girl called Maike who was also on couch surfing. The people there were either via couch surfing or trav buddy - http://www.travbuddy.com Anyways we ended up having a good time we each climbed the wall about 5 times. It wasnt cheap - 27e ... read more

The great aim of education is not knowledge but action--Herbert Spencer I am the best blogger ever. Really, haha. I've been here in the Netherlands for a little over a month, and what a month it has been! I have to honestly say that sometimes it all seems so very normal to me. I really have come to see this as my (temporary) home and as routine. It seems natural sometimes that I'm here, riding the tram or buying fresh baked goods. I've basically adjusted. Not to say that it has been easy. School, for instance, has been a difficult adjustment. First of all the process to register for classes makes you want to jump off of the building itself. Before I came over I chose some courses that sounded interesting, a mix of political ... read more

The traveler sees what he sees, the tourist sees what he has come to see. -- G. K. Chesterton The next few days were spent getting more settled in and used to the fact I would actually be living here for the next six months. It's something I'm still not used to, even all these days later. It hits me randomly. I will be walking next to a canal, or go grocery shopping. The fact definitely hits me when it is raining, although at those moments I'm usually not celebrating my being here, haha. The day after we arrived in Den Haag was for shopping. We wandered in and out of stores, just trying to get used to shopping in Den Haag. Again, knowing Dutch would have made things a lot easier. But at least ... read more

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.--Confucius It's been nine days since my last blog entry; who know's how well this is going to go? Haha. Those nine days have been packed with events and discoveries, too many for one blog entry. Catch-up it is, then; perhaps a blog entry a day! You all will be getting a few e-mails... Dad and I arrived in Den Haag January 19 after various modes of transportation, beginning with a commuter jet to Chicago and ending with a train ride to Den Haag Centraal Station. All the transportation, which is what was making me the most nervous about the trip, went quite smoothly. I had nightmares of getting on the wrong train, buying the wrong ticket, being forced to check some of our carry-ons. ... read more

LONG BEACH, Calif. — A missing elderly couple likely fell off a Carnival Cruise ship between Long Beach and Mexico, company officials said Friday. A 90-year-old man and his 79-year-old wife were aboard the Carnival Paradise when it departed Monday from Long Beach, but they could not be found when it returned Friday morning. Miami-based Carnival said the couple's cabin door was double-locked from the inside with a "Do Not Disturb" sign on the handle. Their belongings remained inside, and the door leading from the cabin to the private balcony was unlocked. FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller said the couple was last seen Tuesday night near their cabin. She said federal agents were interviewing passengers and crew and processing evidence. The Coast Guard has been searching for the missing couple since Friday... read more

Did you know... art is just another language according to certain theories? It allows a certain group of people to find each other and ommunicate the value of thier communication. Today me and Henri decided to go to Den Haag. The reason - to see the works of Erwin Olaf Erwin Olaf (Erwin Olaf Springveld) was born in 1959 in Hilversum, Netherlands. He is a photographer. Olaf is most famous for his commercial and personal work. He has been commissioned to photograph advertising campaigns for large international companies such as Levi's, Microsoft and Nokia. Some of his most famous photographic series include "Grief", "Rain", and "Royal Blood". We got to see Rain, Grief, Hope and Fall. Olaf is never one to shy away from controversy, Olaf's work is often daring and provocative. Humorously however, one of his ... read more
