We had no idea if we would get on the next boat. It could be exactly the same, full to the gunwhales with Riva boarders and we could still find ourselves stuck in Limone. At the back of my mind I remember some self hire boats. No good for us but beyond those was a boat which plied its trade between Limone and Malcesine and there was the off chance they would take us across. Luckily they were leaving at 12.10 and yes we could buy a one way ticket for 9 euros the two of us. Slightly annoyed that our day ticket was a bit of a waste but grateful to get across we jumped at the chance. And finally our adventures in Italy make it to travel blog! I had originally written separate blogs for each place that we visited, but being so busy when we were out there getting ready for the wedding and sightseeing we really didn’t have a lot of time to do much else. Without further ado I shall begin.... Thursday 29th September to Friday 30th September We arrived in Italy on the 29th September to Verona where we spent 2 nights in the Best Western Hotel de Capuleti. Verona is lovely, small and very old with lots of shop windows to browse in, gelato shops galore and amazingly great pizza. Whilst the kids liked the idea of staying by the pool all day, in reality, after just one day and despite the option of all the numerous activities, even they wanted to get out and explore a little. The challenge is to find an alternative that won’t be met with the usual almost-a-teenager apathy. There are water parks and a theme park, but we had planned to try them both out later in the holiday. With the promise of ice-cream later to hold back any rebellions, we drove up the east side of the lake to another small town called Malcesine. From there is a two-stage cable car that goes to the top of Mount Monte Baldo nearby.
