15 Sept 2008 It being a cold start to the day (11 degrees when I returned from my run), we didn't think we'd spend much time at the pool, but the boys were keen so in they went. Shortly thereafter they shivered their way over to the towels, and we decided we wouldn't be spending as much time there as they'd thought. So we decided to visit Ravenna. The rental car had developed a crack in the windscreen over the weekend, so by a process of a number of laborious phone calls I arranged for a changover in Ferrara later on. The process was laborious because the customer service number for Europcar didn't work at the public phones. I had to call the local depots to get assistance. After a short ... read more

Who haven't read something about Italy or seen something from Italy or tasted something from Italy??? Very few people in the world can say they never have done one of the three things. So do you still wonder why I got a fascination and a urge for visiting this country. The summer of 2007 we headed for Rimini a small city at the east coast of Italy. It lays in the county of Emilia Romagna the land of the Ferrari and the Jet setter city of Italy. Not fare from Croatia, Venice, Bologna, San Marino and so on. On must do thing when you travel on vacation is bathing in the sea. Since I am not spoiled with sea water that got a reasonable temperature and with the combination of nice beaches. The beach in Rimini ... read more

Poprostu ... read more

Well after the longest and worst 2 weeks of our lives (hopefully ever) we had a few days of excitement while we traveled to Bologna, Italy to search for an apartment to rent for our 2 years living there. We flew in on a Thursday and spent Friday looking at 8 apartments. We were pleasantly surprised that we really liked most of them. We went in not knowing what to expect at all. We ended up choosing one that is up on a hill right outside the center of Bologna with an amazing terrace and view. We have included some pictures of the one we chose. We will have plenty of room for visitors so start planning your trips to visit! We will be sending all of our big furniture on a sea shipment on August ... read more

It was lovely to be in Rome and we were eager to get out and do some sight seeing. We decided to go on a city walking tour, it was great the tour guide was funny and knew so much about the history he put it in a way I could understand. We both learnt a lot and we were so glad to not have to get the map out at every corner. We saw the Palatine Hill and the Roman Forum, it was kind of hard to imagine what it would have been like back in the Roman days over 2500 years ago. The Colosseum was amazing, I knew that brutal things happened there but didn't realise how bad it was. It was crazy to learn that the gladiators fought with African wild animals such ... read more

The journey north from Ceccano in southern Italy to Ravenna was long but unbelievably beautiful. The countryside is very distinctly Italian, bearing more resemblance to Spain than the rest of Europe. Elaborate Italian villas lie tucked away amid lush, green, rolling hills and farmland. I gazed out the window at the hypnotic symmetry of crop patterns against a backdrop of hills and mountains. We were all eager to get to our destination - a very hip beach resort called Hanabi. We had been there earlier this year, and the beach, the staff, and the food had left a lasting impression. We arrived in Ravenna in the late afternoon and checked into our hotel in town. Ravenna is a small city with a very clean, charming vibe. After checking in we headed toward the beach and found ... read more

Wow, let’s see, where to begin with this one…? We finished the first leg of our ex-Yugoslav adventure with a show in Zagreb, Croatia. Zagreb is a beautiful city - plenty of upscale areas with premium shopping, yet embraced by nature and history, with many lush green parks and lovely old architectural landmarks, including a really nice cathedral. We had a great show there. Although it had it’s share of technical difficulties and sound mishaps, the place was jam-packed and the energy was zinging! The next day had us making a long journey back into France. We passed through five countries in about 11 hours - Croatia, Slovenia, Italy, Switzerland and France. Being from the US, where you can drive all day and not quite make it through Texas, this is a strange and interesting concept! ... read more
