Day 14 Woodenbridge. 90km This was the first day that I never used my wet weather gear - marvellous. Whilst we only did 90km it was not as easy a day as I had though it would be with 900m of climbing. No big hills but plenty of rolling stuff and I often wondered why I ever bothered to shift the chain onto the big ring. We sauntered through Wexford and then hit a headwind for a long way as we headed north just a kilometre or two from the coast. It improved as we took a minor road to Blackwater as we became shielded a little by the trees. Day 13 Luck was with me again today. I seem to have the luck of the Irish. Last week as I was travelling south the prevailing wind was north west. This week As I travel north the wind is from the south west. I am sailing along. I had a good run through Wexford with the sun in my eyes as I crossed the river with some very nice views of the city. The coast road was undulating but only needed my 'granny' ring twice all morning. At Killmuckridge I stopped at a nice cafe where it appears they get a lot of cyclists since there was a pump and spare tubes in a box outside. Had a quick breakfast with Geoff & Dawn and then off to Carrick convention for the morning meeting. Geoff escorted us out of town and up the motorway to our exit. Arrived about 9:30 in time for tea before meeting. Many came up to Trev and recognized him right off after 37 years and others he recognized and once they heard his name burst into a smile and said ack sure I remember you. We sat at lunch with Earl Delaney. He and his brother John came to Canada in 1990's and stayed so it was nice to get a chin wag in with him and his mother Mary. Left Carrick and headed to Dublin to Edgar and Georgie's. Transferred to their vehicle and headed to cousin Janice & Raymond in Moira, just outside of Belfast. ... read more
