Well believe it or not (Mr. Bush) global warming is a very much real and very much affecting the world. In the Scotland Highlands there was no snow on the peaks and in Ireland it is dry as a bone!! One can only hear "It is crazy weather," only so many times before anyone with a 5 year olds brain capacity begins to put one and one together and actually know the answer is two (Mr. Bush?). Anyway, after my lil speal there I shall recap the happenings of the past couple of days. I believe that the last I said anything I was in Edinburgh. If not I was and it is an amazing place. Since then I have traveled out of Scotalnd, across Wales, and into Ireland. Spent last night in Dublin. I was ... read more

We woke up in Kilarney, ears still ringing from the night before, but ready to go. Sarah had some tea with a lovely women from England, and we all did some last minute shopping at Dunnes (like a Walmart). Unfortunately, Gabriel recieved some bad news about one of his friends, which changed the tone of the ride a little. We crossed the Shannon River on a Ferry (bus and all) and Kris saw a Dolphin. We learned a lot about the potato famine throughout our journey (very depressing). The history learned on tours like this is awesome, it really makes you feel like you know the country and its people better. The most breath-taking sights were on the Cliffs of Moher (see pictures below). Words cannot describe! After a picnic lunch in a small farm ... read more

Jackie here: Blarney Castle is our trip on the 18th . Touring the castle was great although Tammy and I refrain from kissing the Blarney Stone. The boys did it and now are entitled to some crazy mojo! The drive to Killarney is next. Steve is doing a great job driving and it is quite stressful. I will think twice about complaining about the 101 or 210 freeways. Most importantly, we find a bar with no cover, and a live band that stays open until 2. The band 'DRIVE' is not quite the crowd-pleasers we hoped for, but they have no waiting for drinks and a wicked fog machine that Tammy gets a chance to operate. Live music gives way to a DJ, but thankfully he mixes dance music with some guitars. We dance (?!) ... read more

This is a bit later than I would usually have my post, but I've been absolutely crazy busy the last week or so, and the next week will definitely be just as busy, if not busier. I just got back on Sunday from a Long weekend with the school. We went to Ireland. I used to have no desire to go to Ireland, because I figured it was green. so what? But, now I had absolutely no desire to leave the green island. Its beyond words how beautiful this place was. Day 1: Wednesday - We had a huge British Studies Exam that was three questions long and took two hours to take. yeah, not the most fun thing I've ever done. So needless to say, the entire school was ready for our long weekend and ... read more

Up and out of bed around 10am for another relaxing day. I didn’t get much sleep last night thinking about Kara being in labor and having my first nephew without me. We don’t get any cell phone coverage here at the house so there is no way of checking in on them. We headed to Killarney this morning with plans to see the Ross Castle and hit a couple geocaches. I called Autum as soon as I got cell service. Kara had baby Justin had 1:30pm yesterday and he was 18.5 inches long and 5.8 lbs. On our way to the internet café, I stopped in an auto parts store and ordered a personalized license plate that models the Ireland plates and it says “Justin-06” to mark the occasion and his aunt being far away. Autum ... read more

I felt like I was waking up all night but it was still dark outside so I would stay in bed. The thought ran through my mind that we might possibly have slept through the following day and it was night again. By the time daylight finally came about, we dragged ourselves out of bed around 11:15am. Billie and Matt weren’t moving any earlier than we were so it was okay. I had a bowl of Frosties (Irish for Frosted Flakes) and orange juice. We made plans to hit Killarney today since it is close by and there are several sites in the area. Right after we hit the road, we remembered daylight savings time so that set us off at 1pm. The first stop was up a winding road past Killarney National Park about 14km. ... read more

Evening at Sean Og’s When we looked for the B&B’s we planned to stay at, we wanted to find a few that would allow us to be immersed in the Irish culture. Well, this was definitely the right place! In the evenings, they have live Irish music in the pub below our rooms. We went out for a traditional Irish meal, a few had Irish Stew, a few had the Seafood Chowder, I had chicken in pastry. Awesome food. We walked back to our B&B to enjoy the evening with the locals. Once the music started, hands were clapping and feet were stomping. Some old Irish men sang and a few broke out in dance. It was a great evening. Day 3 - The Dingle Peninsula We rented a van for the 8 of us to ... read more

Leaving Cork, we took one last loving glance at Vomit Hill and decided to get a picture for posterity. Once again, it was a piece of cake to get tickets and board the bus to Killarney. Our bus trip to Killarney was a nice, quick 1.5 hours and our Bed and Breakfast was directly (and I mean directly) across the street from the bus station. We couldn’t have been happier, considering we’d had a couple late nights in the not-so-distant past and were eager for a nap. Checking into Sunnybank Guesthouse was simple - Martina Kelliher greeted us and led us to our room. Martina and her husband Brendan have an absolutely gorgeous home - this was definitely my favourite accommodation of the entire trip. We crashed for a few hours and then wandered out looking ... read more

Today we have seen a lot of the Irish Countryside. This country has really spectacular scenery a lot of the film Ryans daughter was filmed in this area. You travel around the mountains and the coastline along narrow winding roads I must say the coach drivers here really earn their money as the roads are very narrow even for a small car. We are off to a meet the locals Irish music night and tomorrow its off to Limeric and Galway Bay We really love Ireland and think everyone should come here for a visit... read more
