We did our own thing today and set off for the fortress overlooking the city of Mytilini. It covers an area of 20 hectares. The site was inhabited from antiquity starting with Justinian (6th c.BC). Its current form is the work of the Gattelusi and Ottoman rulers. Within the fortress there was a rulers residence, ammunition depot, a Christian church, and two mosques, a military hospital, a large cistern ane other buildings. It was a very interesting site with a great view over the city. It was also very hot. After walking around for a couple of hours we headed towards the waterfront for something to eat and a cold beer. We found a nice restaurant where there were the fewest smokers.... read more

This morning was a late port into Mytilene on the island of Lesbos. This gave us the time to head to the formal dining room for breakfast. This allows us all to eat at the same time rather than getting Em some food then looking after her at the table while we go to the buffet one at a time. Em was begging to go back to the kids club so we spent the morning watching the coastline slide by while Em played. Once we arrived, the boat anchored and the tender boats were lowered into the water. We waited our turn and boarded for the ride into the small port area. Em was excited by the change in port routine and enjoyed the boat ride. Once onshore, we really didn’t have much idea what was ... read more

Günün tamamını toparlayan videomuz şöyle : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v... read more

Anchored off Mytilene, Lesbos (3rd largest Greek Island) - 1st port we have had to use tenders to get us ashore but run very efficiently. Very pretty island, quite hilly with lots of white and blue houses up the hillsides of the villages and loads of olive groves. This island is very famous for Ouzo and olives. Lost our group for lunch so after going for a 2 hour walk around town and up on the large hill in town to the castle ruins decided to rent a small car and take in a lot more of the island. This was a fantastic way to go - though right hand side drive - windy roads - John driving like a bat out of hell sometimes it was a bit hairy! Up and down mountains and overlooking ... read more
