Well ive popped my head up again to give some kind of update of my travels; FYI im currently in Berlin, Germany, staying at a friends apartment for an as yet undetermined length of time... eventually this blog will catch up to where i ACTUALLY am! Yes so despite all the delays in Warsaw i still managed to make it to my flight on time and jetted off to Tallinn, Estonia. Despite some trouble finding my direction in the city, i managed to find the ferry ticketing office and bought a ticket across to Finland, and then got directions to the port of Tallinn. I missed the boat i wanted to catch to Helsinki, so had to catch a later, more expensive ferry :0( Also i later found out that on the boat that i missed ... read more

All day speed reading And a wander about town Did some laundry too. It was another work day for Reimar and Conny. I had my work cut out for me too. On my to-do list…laundry and reading! Bit of a kink in the plan since the laundry room was being used by the staff and wouldn’t be free until about 5PM. No worries. That’ll be enough time for me to wash and dry my clothes before Reimar and Conny get home from work around 7PM. Geesh, these guys work late! Conny tells me that Reimar sometimes works ‘til 9 or 10…but since I’m in town he’s been leaving earlier than normal…still longer than your average 8 hour work day. I went out in the afternoon to take advantage of the sun shining. I didn’t walk anywhere ... read more

Delicious Breakfast Cake, coffee at 3PM Delicious Dinner! Raining again! Tour de Stuttgart has been postponed until further notice. But there will be plenty of food to eat. Breakfast call was at 8:30. Lots of meats, cheeses and spreads to be eaten on/with a variety of breads. Reimar’s parents are quite the busy ones in the kitchen making their own jams, paté and cheese! Once again, very well fed after breakfast! Since it was raining we stayed in for the morning. I did a bit of reading and then Reimar’s dad, Ulrich comes over to me to show me the newspaper. What a coincidence in the travel section of the newspaper is an article on Vancouver! Reimar and Ulrich taught me a German card game. It was a bit confusing at first but still it was ... read more

Wow that was a cool wedding. It started in the church a 2pm and there where things planned until 2am including fireworks. There is so much to tell about it I won,t start now as I am in the airport and the plane boards in 20 min. The lounges here in Germany for Luftunsa are great with free internet pcs. I am flying to Barcalona to do whatever and then off to Istanbul the 25th. I am staying with a friend of someone I meet at the wedding party so hopefully not too bad on the pocket book and another chance to swim in the sea. It has been raining here a lot so it will also be nice to get back to the heat. I still don,t have a plan for Asia, but I am ... read more

Hey all, Yesterday I went to the legal wedding at the courthouse were the Major married my friend Casey and his wife Danni. This has been great as I have been tagging along with the well planned sightseeing trips lead by the bride´s father. We have seen old towns, the largest waterfall, climbed the tallest church spire, visited the town of Einstien´s birth and had lots of local food. Bread, cheese and coldcuts of all kinds is normal for breakfast. It has been awesome staying with this super super nice family and they taken care of all the details and translation which means it has been very relaxing. I have to run down to breakfast and have some blackforest cake mmmm...... See ya next time... read more

Leisurely breakfast Mmm, eating is my hobby! Roadtrip to Schorndorf. After a nice, large and leisurely breakfast on the patio, the three of us set out in Conny’s convertible BMW towards Heidlberg. Riding in a convertible with the top down on the autobahn sure make you think, “Why’d I bother combing my hair this morning?” Since the sun was shining it was a nice ride. And thankfully I didn’t have too many knots to deal with - hmm, should I just leave them and start dreadlocks? Haha Just over an hour and we’re in lovely Heidlberg and exploring the Castle (or rather Schloss.) It was a 300+ stair climb that was a bit taxing on the cardiovascular system but not too bad. I felt like running up but thought it’d be rude to run up leaving ... read more

A day to myself Reading, shopping and watching Great day in the sun. Today is my first full day in Frankfurt. Reimar and Conny had to go to work today so I was left to my own devices. I wanted to get up and at least have breakfast with them but I slept like a log and didn’t even hear them! I eventually got up and started to read “when the War was Over - Cambodia and the Khmer Rouge Revolution.” By Elizabeth Becker. A really well written book…only problem, there are 500+ pagers to slog through by Tuesday morning! I was showered up just before the cleaners came by. Perfect timing! Reimar and Conny have been living in temporary accommodations since coming back from their big RTW trip in March/April. It is covered by Conny’s ... read more

... read more
