In the lead up to the 1977 Christmas season we drove to the Kriskindelmarkt in Nuremburg, but it was so crowded we decided to head back to Rothenberg ob der Tauber, the quintessential romantic walled medieval town in northern Bavaria, for the night. We arrived late but just in time to stop at the tourist office to see if they could find us a room. By a stroke of good fortune they found us a room in a farm located on the northern outskirts of town. An old farmer and his wife welcomed us with big smiles and showed us the room in their attic. It was very nice, although the ceilings slanted. They told us to be careful not to bump out heads when getting out of the tub. They next morning we joined them
