Game today was dissapointing, but, in all seriousness, the US team really wasn't that good. They are a solid team, and deserved to be there, but 2 goals in 3 games won't cut it. They didn't deserve to move on, and they won't. Anxious to get to Prague tomorrow - can't wait to leave Germany. You can tell that Americans are not well liked here - I guess they forgot all about the Marshall Plan! Munich yesterday, so of course a trip to the Hofbrau Haus was in order. Huge beers and sausages! Lots of fan from all over. Loudest were the Serbians, which is strange since they are sure to get eliminated today. ... read more

We decided to leave Munich a day early for Nuremburg, the site of the final US first round game which would decide America's fate in the tournament. The guys initially grabbed a seat in a smoking car of the train and ended up staying there because they had found four seats together. I found an empty seat in a smoke free car next door, so I stayed there and read. When we got off the train a couple hours later, Adam said something about Josh getting his own room. Apparently there was a tiff about hotel points for the night and a separate "rough housing" incident between the two on the train didn't help the situation. After some heated discussion in the hotel room Josh left to "find himself another room." In reality, that meant going ... read more

Nurnberg is really a must see medieval city that is surrounded by a wall. With the coolest part being the Nurnberg castle on the north end of the town, from which you can get a great view of the city. As Nurnberg is where all the Nazi Rally Party Grounds were it was pretty much reduced to rubble in WWII. However, like many cities in Germany, it has been restored so well that there are very few visible differences to the town before and after the war. The town is also full of museums and because I had time to kill I went and visited a few of them because the tickets are valid for all the museums. Durer’s House was quite cool because it was a look at the way of living in his day ... read more

A promise is a promise and since I told you I would update this site a little bit more often... Here it goes... First, this damn computer won’t accept my camera so no photo’s yet! Damn German computers, they must somehow have an anti Dutch device in them... Bastards!! Well first stop was Düsseldorf, where my parents brought me, and after walking around a bit there and having a lunch it was time for the tearful goodbyes... Than it was off to Köln where Raphael picked me up and took good care of me, both on the food front as well as on the beer front. And he showed me around town too... I can tell you that climbing up the Kölner Dom is quite hard and the beer afterwards was more then welcome... After the ... read more

An Excerpt from the Travel Journal of Rev. H. Nigel Fox Entry 24 - The Confessing Church There are some women who, in saintly fashion, can bare any ordeal with stoic calm. My Norah however did not fall into this category of person. She had first burst into a passion of weeping, being fairly devastated by the fact that her life's work was no more; then her passion cooled into a dark anger, a vindictiveness, so very black and terrible, that I feared for her immortal soul. "Who could have done such a dastardly thing?" Norah asked, in a wretched tone that was truly unsettling. Hans paused for a moment as we entered the taxicab, then said in a low voice, "Armanenshaft!" "Who the devil are they?" asked Norah, her countenance changing. "The Devil is right!" ... read more
