With our bus trip to London not until late this afternoon, we slept in a bit this morning. It looks like our wifi has been cut off for our departure day, which is a bit of a pain as we could really use it to book some flights that our coming up. After breakfast, we did some mailings of things and then explored the mall a bit more, including a nature store that has become Joshua's favourite. After a lunch at Subway, we picked up our bags from our hotel and walked a short distance to Lille's other train station, where our bus (and the much faster Eurostar train) depart. Though our bus was supposed to leave at 3:30, as the time approached there was no sign of it, despite the fact that our tickets said ... read more

I have been here for almost three months now and I thought I would just write a little over view of my thoughts about being here and things like that.. Well I already am learning so much about different cultures, different perspectives, different languages, different faces, different everything but yet at the same time I am learning that no matter where you are you will always find things that are similar as well. You are who you are and the people you meet and the places you go just help to add to your character. I find myself really thinking about life and looking back at all the wonderful thing that I took for granted and all the things that I will forever be greatful for. It's funny how we all have so many things that ... read more

Hey again... So I have only been in France for a little over 2 months but time is flying by so quickly already! I'm so happy that rotary makes us switch Families. I mean in the beginning of the switch I felt like my whole exchange was starting over and in some ways it was. But then I realized that this is what the exchange is all about meeting new people and living in different cultures, and of course in different families there will be different perspectives and different things. I'm starting to realize that just because something is different than the way you are accustomed to does not make it wrong ; I'm starting to actualy understand the French way of life and starting to think about how things are actualy very similar to the ... read more

Im living in a small country town and it is really beautiful. It reminds me a lot of home! I was getting really at home at my first host family and switching made me appreciate all the things they have done for me. I will switch back with them for Christmas though! which is really cool. My new host family is very nice as well. I have two host brothers and one host sister. One of the brothers is older and works in Paris so he isn't here that often. the little host brother reminds me a lot of what ... read more

We departed early in the morning and took the enormous Channel Tunnel trains to England. The ride itself in nothing more interesting really than riding a giant subway, but the thought that you are traveling under the English Channel... ... read more

I had such a great weekend!!!! I went with the Rotex (just the exchange students) kyaking! So much fun! The water was freezing but luckily my boat didn't flip over. People did get pushed in though I could not even imagine how cold they must have been haha. Yeah well let me start with what happened first. I went to the train station right after school on Sat afternoon and was so happy that I made it to the train station on time and remembered where it was and everything (haha it was soo easy to get to.) And once I got on the train I met up with Oana. Oana is originally from Romainia but lives in Canada and like me is in France for the year for the exchange. Oana and I are such ... read more

Hey everyone... Got the chance to write a little bit and I know how everyone is lokingforward to hearing what's new for me in France. Well last sat.. I got to go to the swimming pool for swimming lessons again which I really liked and enjoyed getting to swim again. Then the host mom and I went to the movies. I was a little worried that I was not going to understand the movies because it would obviuosly be in French. We watched Faubourg 36 and I understood everything because the acting was very good and the music just made everything really easy to watch and understand what was going on in the movie. Aftewards we went to a really nice café at night and I got hot chocolate which was of course really good. The ... read more
