Rails overstroomd? Spoordijk ingestort? Iets anders ingestort over de rails heen? Wie spreekt er beter Duits dan ... read more

Morning: We can't wait to get out of this hostel finally and so we got up as usual and ate our breakfast, packed up our stuffs and checked out at 11am. Our bus leaves at 12pm so we walked slowly to the underground and took the train to the bus station, sat at the platform and waited for more than half hour. We thot the coach bus will be a comfortable one but when a run-down bus appeared in front of us, you should have seen both our faces...haaa i was staring at it w my mouth open. Really looks like those buses from Malaysia! Afternoon: The bus ride took about 2 hours or lesser and we reached Plzen at about 1:30pm. Our host will be meeting us at the bus station and so we found ... read more

Morning: This morning, I mean dawn, I was woken up by the sounds of cornflakes in a bowl and realised it´s Miguel getting ready to go to class. Anyway, it´s too early to register anything in my brain yet...Then after abt an hour, he´s back from class and we are still not up yet at 10+am! Lazybums! Managed to get up finally and slowly got ready to step out of his flat to the town center, which is like, a few steps more. Haaa...the carnival at the square is still going on but we decided to go get a nice coffee at the Cross Cafe first before going over to join the crowd. Afternoon: Great cafe and we sat there for a while as I watched the 2 origami experts start to fold the paper into ... read more

All went well getting to and fro from Plzen. I walked for hours down the river, climbed the cathedral tower, ate pork, dumplings and cabbage and looked at some very dull second hand shops. It's not a bad place but I wouldn't want to spend more than a day there. Milada, the Czech girl who showed me around likes it much more than Prague but i can't think why.... read more

I'm FINALLY getting to this long-overdue entry about my trip to Czech Republic last weekend! It's been a crazy week, and I figure I should get this posted before I leave for Greece today. Day 1 - Travel to Prague/Plzen My first solo international flight took off last Wednesday (Mar. 14) afternoon. It was kind of lonely since I spent the whole day waiting around for my bus and then the flight, but everything was worth it when the plane touched down in Prague at 5:45 p.m. My cousin Becky and her husband Ben live in Plzen ("Pil-sen"), which is about an hour from Prague, and Ben was there to meet me at the airport with the groundskeeper and car. It's been ages since I've seen family!! My cousins live above the ELS mission school ... read more

So we made it to the holy grail: Plzen, the home of the Pilsener style of beer and of Pilsner Urquell, arguably the worlds most famous. The town itself is quite small, and centres around a large square dominated by the Cathedral of St Bartholemew. Its quite a small church but its tower is one of the tallest in Bohemia and so we had to climb it. The views were great, and in the not so distant distance we could see the Pilsner Urquell brewery. Spent the next day or so checking out the town: the underground tunnels where private pubs were located and beer chilled, the brewery museum where we learnt everything we didnt need to know about the history of Corbs favourite beverage and in particular Pilsner Urquell, and the worlds third largest synagogue ... read more

Hello from Plzen, home of Pilsner.... One hour out of Prague, our main reason for visiting was to tour the Pilsner Urquell brewery (it was here where the eponymous Pilsner was invented). The brewery tour was a bit underwhelming. In part I think this is because they are currently increasing the capacity of the brewery (with all the building work that goes along with it), and as such are limited in what they can show tourists. Even so, what we did get to see what very interesting. We got to see some of the many tunnels underneath the factory (which stretch for miles in several dimensions), see the brewing process, and taste some of the unfiltered beers. It was also very cheap, so we can't complain. They could do a lot more with it though! The ... read more

After spendin 600 euros is 7 days it was time to get out of Munich before i ran out of money and have to go home 5 months early. After a borin uneventful train ride i got to Plzen, comin into Plzen the place looked like quite the dump, but once in the main part of the town it wasnt so bad. My first 3 hours in Plzen were spent walkin around lookin for a hostel even after goin to the information office i still couldnt find the dump, so i decided to cut my loses a stay at a crappy hotel in the center of town, the hotel was a waiste of money 23 euro for ... read more
