Morning: We can't wait to get out of this hostel finally and so we got up as usual and ate our breakfast, packed up our stuffs and checked out at 11am. Our bus leaves at 12pm so we walked slowly to the underground and took the train to the bus station, sat at the platform and waited for more than half hour. We thot the coach bus will be a comfortable one but when a run-down bus appeared in front of us, you should have seen both our faces...haaa i was staring at it w my mouth open. Really looks like those buses from Malaysia!
Afternoon: The bus ride took about 2 hours or lesser and we reached Plzen at about 1:30pm. Our host will be meeting us at the bus station and so we found a nice spot and waited. It's funny everytime we try to meet our host for the first time, it's like a blind date happening again and again. We only have their photos online to gauge how they look like and sometimes it matches, sometimes it's a bit off. This time round it was funny cos the photos that we saw online was him w
lots of hair and even a beard and so we were trying to spot someone that looks like that. But then this clean-shaven guy walked slowly to us and smiled and then we realised it´s our host! He jus shaved off his hair last week and he looks completely different from the photos. He was very nice and helped us carry some of our bags and walked us to his apartment which was yes, the top floor. Miguel is a medical student from Portugal studying in Czech Rep and he´s staying w one of his Portuguese friends but she´s not around cos she´s back in Portugal. We settled down and Miguel brought us down to the nearest pub restaurant and have a great lunch! Really enjoyed it after the food in Prague especially. Then he brought us to the markt square where there´s a festival going on w concerts and food stalls filling the square. We walked past it and wanted to go visit the underground water tunnels but unfortunately it closed early today and it will be closed for the 2 more days that we are there so it´s a terrible miss. We continued on then to the park
and then decided to visit the supermarket so we went back to grab our shopping bags and head on to the huge one across the river. Really enjoyed going to this one cos it´s the biggest one I´ve seen in Europe and there´s so much selection you´re spoilt for choice! Finally finished stocking up our necessities, we lugged everything back to Mig´s flat. Stayed at the flat for a while until his friends asked him to come back down to the square and meet up. So off we go again back to the lively centre and bought a Pilsner beer to get a complete feel of the environment of being in Plzen. Met some of his uni mates and chatted for a while, then Joel and ´Shark´, a couple, suggested to go and have coffee somewhere else.
Night: They brought us to the highest point in Plzen which is a 10-storey building w a nice cafe on top to have drinks. We saw the beautiful sunset on top and had a fantastic and funny chat w 3 of them. Exchanging our Chinese culture and their Portuguese and Spanish culture w each other, it was really interesting and finally it´s
dark already and we decided to go back to cook for dinner. Well, Mig´s preparing dinner actually so we jus hanged around and watched him cook. I think it was about 10pm when dinner is done and it was really delicious! Miguel has this special and very interesting-looking machine that cooks rice and as he said lots of other food and I´ve never seen it before, it actually looks a bit sinister...and makes loud sounds while cooking, like it´s grinding the food constantly. But the rice came out great and at first we thot it was too much but it was gone after a few minutes! Amazing! Haaa ...After dinner, we decided to watch a movie from his huge collection and we (actually it´s me) chose to watch Darjeeling Limited. I´ve been wanting to catch this film ever since it opened in Singapore before I left but jus didnt manage to slot it into my movie schedule. So it was great timing and the film is funny and well-shot by Wes Anderson w great colours and juxtaposition of the settings. Enjoyed the movie but it was late and we had a long day travelling so I was almost knocked out jus before the film ends...zzzzz....
