Da wir gestern erst ziemlich spät ins Bett gekommen sind, war das Aufstehen heute eine Qual. Vollkommen verschlafen haben wir es noch geschafft 10 Minuten bevor der Frühstücksraum geschlossen wurde zwei Brote zu ergattern. Nach dieser anstrengenden Tortur haben wir uns gleich wieder schlafen gelegt, um dann um ca. 2 wieder aufzuwachen (geplant war 12). Jetzt aber wirklich komplett ausgeschlafen nahmen wir uns vor, unseren gestrigen Plan, Pilsen zu besuchen, zu verwirklichen. Zum Glück fährt jede Stunde ein Zug und so standen wir nach 2 Stunden Fahrt schon am Pilsner Bahnhof. Da die Bahnhofsauskunft wieder mal komplett zu vergessen war haben wir einen netten Taxifahrer gefragt, der sogar Deutsch sprach. An diesem Tag bin ich über die relativ neue schöne Autobahn vom Raum Nürnberg nach Pilsen gefahren. Das war ein spontaner Kurzaufenthalt, zu dem ich mich an einem langweiligen Freitag Nachmittag entschieden habe. An der Grenze habe ich mir eine Vignette gekauft und bei Dunkelheit Pilsen problemlos erreicht. Ich musste ein bisschen nach einem Parkplatz suchen und habe dann im Hotel eingecheckt. Today we went to Plzen, a smaller city in Prague about an hour and a half away. It is where Pilson beer comes from!! The professor who was guiding us actually works there at the Pilson brewery. When we got there, she got off the bus and put her name tag on and said "I am Eva and I will be your tour guide today." We were all just like whhhhaat? We learned a lot about Czech beer and basically that they drink more thank any other country! They only export 10% of their beer and consume the rest.. crazy. She tried to tell us that beer keeps the Czechs healthy because it cleans out their arteries.. but I dont know about that! En chemin vers la Russie, le premier arrêt s'appelle Vochov. Pour me mener jusque là, j'ai pu compter sur de vieux amis. DO et Véro avaient justement prévu de partir une semaine en République tchèque au début du mois d'avril et ils m'ont généreusement proposé de passer quelques jours en leur compagnie. Apres 8h d´un trajet agréable a travers les autoroutes suisses et allemandes, nous y sommes. Petit village paisible a quelques km de Plzen (célèbre pour sa bière, notamment), Vochov ne doit compter guère plus de 500 habitants. C'est pourtant là qu'est née une légende vivante du hockey tchèque : "Boja" Ebermann, 177 sélections en équipe nationale, considéré comme l'un des attaquants les plus rapides de tous les temps. Today we went to the Pilsner Urquell Brewery in Plzen, the home of the most famous Czech Beer and the place where all of the Pilsner Urquell for the Czech Republic is made. Apparently, Pilsner Urquell was the first light lager and 2/3 of all beers today have had their origins in the absolutely AMAZING beer. We went on the tour of the original and modern brewery. The tour showed us the entire process. We got to see and taste all ingredients, watch the barley being turned to malt, the malt water and hops cooked in the giant copper ovens and then they add the yeast and store it in THE 9KM OF UNDERGROUND TUNNELS that run under the factory.
