Morning: Woke up at abt 9.45am & got ready slowly cos it will be a late nite today. Anyway we've already seen most of Antwerp yesterdayso we've no rush to catch anything else. Afternoon: At about 1pm, we left the apartment & headed to the streets toward the shopping area. Yuri recommended a nice coffee house & we went there to try it out. It's good indeed! After that short coffee break, we walked on to the Justice Palace at one end of the city. It's nothing like the old huge building in Brussels but a modern architecture that resembles our own Esplanade really only they have really large spikes instead of many small ones. Actually it was not impressive at all and I didnt even want to take any photos of it. We decided to ... read more

Morning: Had a good sleep and woke up only at around 9:30am. Everybody woke up around that time and we got ready slowly. Yuri offered to make some pancakes for us and we hungrily agreed. Then he introduced us on how Belgians eat their pancakes w palm sugar, chocolate chip-like toppings and a kind of sugar that taste really nice which is called Cassinade Graeffe. He said it's prob only sold in Belgium so we decided to buy it when we visit the supermarket later. After 3 pancakes later, we started getting ready to go out and it's about 1pm already. Afternoon: Since the day was so good and super sunny, Yuri decided not to waste it by staying at home to do his work and head out w his laptop to the city's cafe to ... read more

Morning: Since it was our last day in Brugge and we really really enjoyed our stay here in this small old town, we made a point to wake up earlier to have breakfast w Anouchka before she leaves for work cos we wont be seeing her when she's off work. Said our goodbyes to her and proceed to leave the house early to cover the rest of the town we missed. First stop is at the Markt Square where every Wed there's a fruit & vegetable market in the morning. When we cycled there, the square was packed w people and it was really colourful w lots of beautiful flowers on sale, there's also fresh meat and fruits everywhere. We bought some food for dinner tonite & headed to the next stop. Afternoon: Groeninge Museum (the ... read more

Hey all '(un)fortunately' we arrived this morning in Amsterdam. Fortunately we landed; unfortunately we had to land after our 3 weeks journey because somewhere our number of vacations days is not an exact max of our working days … We immediately recognized we landed in Amsterdam around 05u23 this morning because the Dutch still have difficulties with ‘modern’ techniques since they couldn’t open the door to the luggage compartment of the plane automatically. They had to open the door ‘by hand’ which caused a delay of an hour and a half. Finally we collected our luggage and boarded onto the Thalys with final destination my beloved city ‘Antwerp’. We anticipated we won’t have the change to calculate how long it would take to travel from Amsterdam to Antwerp Central stations because we checked in on the ... read more

No I didn’t spell it wrong, that is how it is spelled! I spent most of my day in Antwerpen - city of romance and diamons! The place is more comercialized, business and industry that touristy, still I had an opportunity to see some of the cities history, including the great wall of Antwerpen and of course diamonds! Oh how the sparkle...made me kind of sad as I did the tour of the diamond factory and watched a jewler set some stones in a ring. I thought about my grandpa and what he did as a profession. The rest of the tour was kind of a bust. I really wasn’t a fan of the tour or the tour guide and today it was cold, wet and windy; not great conditions. To top it off the internet ... read more

So, today, spent the whole day in Antwerp! Started out late again....(so love to sleep-in!!!^-^) So started off with the Diamond museum! I didn't know Belgium was famous for cutting diamonds and being the trade centre for diamonds in Europe! It was interesting to know about the history and how diamonds are formed and so on... they had this audio guide with..TOO much info!!! holy...felt like going on 2 lectures of diamond history! haaaaa.... They do have some pretty shiny jewels on display..too bad I am not too into diamonds, yet. haaaa! Then, walked into the city. Antwerp is the fashion capital and its TRUE!!! OMG... so many nice stuff!!! especially, recently I got into looking at leather shoes for some reason.......but they are so expensive!!!! The first part within Denmark was alright, then from Kolding St. had to take a night train to Koeln in Germany. to save 16Euros, I decided to go for a seat instead of a couchette........I was lucky though! a lady left after a few hours and the compartment only had this English guy and me, so we both got to lie down and actally sleep!=) The train was delayed though, so I was worried as I have a connection train to catch.....then halfway through the night, the train hit someone ont he tracks!!! it was stuck for 2 hours!!!!!! OMG...I heard the noise and though it was just trees...then I saw all these firemen searching for things around the train............argh. Anyways, arrived in this other station and ... read more

Day 2 of the conference in Antwerp. The morning started with a delightfully filling breakfast buffet - today they had pancakes that were to die for - light, and laced with maple-syrup-like flavouring but without the stickiness, all topped off with a pile of cream! The day then proceeded with an 'exciting' morning at the conference - lots of work, not much play. For lunch, a few colleagues decided to head out to the waterfront to eat at a well known seafood establishment. Between the various colleagues, we managed to get a smattering of lobster, crab, fish and mussels - poor corporate expense cards were sighing from the bill. Now I'm not much of a seafood person, but I have to say that this seafood was actually rather tasty. I even found the mussels tasty enough ... read more
