Geo: 47.2568, 11.5335it was a fairly brief stop over in austria, but there was plenty of sightseeing on the coach. the austrian countryside is probably the most beautiful countryside ive ever seen. beautiful mountain ranges, rivers, fields, cliffs.. with villages tucked in everywhere, ill definatley have to go back there some time and see more. the focus of our couple hours in austria was white water rafting. this was GREAT fun.. lasting about 2 hours, through breathtaking sights. i got front seat the boat so the main paddling was for me to do! so tiring, but great, and id like to try a rougher course some day.... read more

This is a test post. The last one, from August 31, was just copied and pasted into this new online journal from my other one, which wasn't good because it wouldn't let me add my own pictures or anything. And I guess while I'm at it, here are some pictures of my dorm that I live in :)... read more

This album is mostly just my friends and I in Vienna, and not enough of the city itself. I have been putting off going around and trying to photograph all the beautiful parts of the city because that would be very difficult. However, I have found some quite interesting things around here and the photos should give some kind of a glimpse into what weve been up to lately.... read more

We arrived in Vienna and proceeded to fight our way through thousands of Saturday afternoon shoppers with our huge backpacks - fun! We got to tourist office alive and they directed us to our campground that we found without too much trouble. We set up our tent and headed off to find a grocery store only to find they were all closed already (it was after five on a Saturday) but we managed to wrangle up a feast from surprisingly well-stocked Shell gas station. The next day we did a self-guided walking tour that took us past the major sights with a few unexpected surprises such as the United Nations bears. These life sized bear statues were each painted to represent a UN country although Canada’s was nowhere to be found. We discovered that ours was ... read more

Our first impression of Salzburg was that it is a very cute city surrounded by beautiful county side. The office at our campground was in a quintessential Alpine house and walking just minutes from our site were spectacular views of farm land, rolling hills, and mountains in the distance. We bought Salzburg cards, which give you free public transportation and admission to many of the sights for a 48 hour period. We started our process of getting the most for our money by taking the funicular (sort of an elevator on rails that go up the side of a hill) up to the Festung Hohensalzburg the fortress that looks down on Salzburg. There were incredible views from the top. The fortress also houses a war museum and marionette museum (creepy!). On the way to lunch we ... read more

Hi everyone! Well this is the first of many installments to our blog! We are currently waiting at Vienna airport for our cnnecting flight to Athens! Dubai was awesome! Very very HOT! The 4wd safari was definitely the highlight! We spent 1 hour flying over the sand dunes before arriving at our campsite... We both rode a camel, Krista got a Henna tattoo and Kev went sandboarding and smoked apple hubbly bubbly! On our city tour, on the last day, we both had some durhams left so Kev bought a traditional head piece and Kristagot ripped off with a fake Gucci watch.. (paid 4 times what i should have!) We are looking forward to Greece and will keep you all updated and attach some photos while we are there! ... read more

First of all, I´m doing some catchup as i´ve finally found some cheap internet time, so sorry about the influx of emails telling you i´ve updated my blog. Second´iùm typing on a French keyboard, and the keys are in mad positions, so forgive spelling and grammar. OK, Al and I arrived in Vienna Austria nice and early after catching another overnight train. It was a mixed cabin of 6 with tiny bunk beds. It was absolutely stifling hot and a very uncomfortable ride. We both agreed that the reclining seat option we were offered would have been much better (we both realised later that we both would have taken that option but thought the other would have wanted the bed.. one of us should´ve spoken up!) We spent most of the day wandering around the city ... read more
