Well we've finally pack and arrived. Muchos stories of all the people we have met on the beach. Jill has never seen so much male anotomy before on the nude beach. Learing is good. \ We arrived Saturday after a 14 hour travel day. the flight down was easy and yes everything fit in the overhead compartment. Sensa Air seated 14 people and our girl jill did just fine with her eyes closed and not paying any attetion to the blinding clouds the the pilots who seemed more intent on doing the log work than actually flying the friggin' tin can we were in a la Patsy Cline. We arrived at our lovely hotel Villa Rocca and had a wonderful dinner and then proceeded to flop into bed. olah all....i have taken over the duties of ... read more

Right off the bat, let me apologize - this blog has no pictures. We are at the beach and left the cable to connect the camera back at our apartment. No, this isn’t just some slick marketing ploy to get you to tune in next time. So tune in next time to see the pictures. So we decided to take a vacation before the kids went back to school. Sure, you could say that the past 6 weeks (or however long it’s been - it’s hard to keep track) have been a vacation, but except for the stint at Asis, the Britt Coffee tour, the zoo, the Inbioparque, the day at Monte de la Cruz, the day in Orosi and our weekend on the farm, we haven’t really done anything touristy/vacationy. I know, we have your ... read more

Long time since my last blog so Happy New Year to everyone. Since my last entry we had a 5.1 earthquake hit. It was my first one that I recall feeling. All the times I´ve been to San Francisco and they occurred, I never felt one. This one nearly knocked me off my feet, but it was just one big jolt and then I didn´t feel anything else. Other friends felt a slight tremor afterwards for about 10 seconds. Davide felt nothing. There was no damage. Last week our friends Steve and Kathleen took us up to see their house that they are building up in the hills above San Ramon in Los Angeles Sur. I am posting a photo of the view from their house...it´s breathtaking. We then drove up the road about another 10 ... read more

Hello all, me again! Andrew is addicted to his book. Well, you guessed it, we saw lava which was the most amazing thing ever. We had chatted to other travellers who saw either nothing or an "orange glow" at Volcan Arenal, and I had very low expectations to avoid disappointment. But we just got off the bus and saw the volcano spitting molten rocks again and again. I was surprised at how quickly they moved down the cone. Our tour leader said we were really lucky, and we have decided we are the lucky group because we keep fluking lots of cool things. Today we travelled to Monteverde, a privately owned but protected area of cloud forest. We hired a guide, and it was sensational. We saw racoons, monkeys, a vulture, hummingbirds, snakes, massive stick insects, ... read more

I left Jaco after 2 weeks, with a couple of people who had been at the surf school or who worked for it ..First stop Montezuma.... We took a boat from just North of Jaco, for an hour across to Montezuma. It was little speed boat with about 6 of us travelling on it. I felt like I was back travelling for the first time since I left work 6 months ago! Great feeling and beautiful view of lush green mountains as we left the central pacific coastline to the southern nicoya peninsula. We stopped in Montezuma for just a night as there was no surf there and the boys were gagging to get back in the water. Montezuma was nice chilled out place .. beaches and a really laid back feel to it. We stayed ... read more

Manuel Antonio is a small national park on the pacific coast of Costa Rica. Its slogan (well the one we were given by our hotel) is "still more monkeys than people" - which was quite true (although I must admit that there were times when it was hard to tell the difference)..... This may be my last entry ever in Costa Rica. I probably won´t write tomorrow as I´m catching a bus around 11 to manuel antonio for my fishing expedition. I´m extremely stoked, but a little nervous going it alone. I wish my best friend Wesley Hermoyk or my dad could be here to experience this with me. Maybe someday they´ll come down here with me for some fishing. I´m sad to see my time here in costa rica end. Its been awesome. I´m going to miss everything about it, especially my family here. I recommend this trip or a trip to any other country where they speak a foreign language to anyone who is interested in partaking in a humbling experience, learning a new culture and exploring your limitations while absorbing a wealth of information. I´ll ... read more

The sack or in espanol "el saco" had a very long weekend as usual. We got things started on friday night at a bar in desamporados called Manuellos. A lot of funny things happened here including the grandest marcos story of all. Mark, AKA "Marcos Suave" amongst the costa rican women, actually successfully picked up and got a 24 year old damn good looking tica´s number. I was duely impressed and you would have been too as the whole process was very comical to the point where i think i wet myself. On the way to the bar marcos was asking me for "advice" with the women and goes ... and i quote "Hook a gringo up" haha. gringos are what us americans are called down here. Also, Manuellos, has a digital jukebox full of classic ... read more
