I left Playa Del Carmen and hopped onto a bus to the small country of Belize. My sister has done this Central America trip before so she told me I have to have to have to go to the island of Caye Caulker in Belize ... and that's where I decided to go. It was a night bus journey taking 8 hours. As I reached border control I remembered an article I read earlier saying that if you are in Mexico for only a few days then don't pay the exit fee despite how much they try and force you to do so. I was tempted to hide on the bus or run around the customs building to the other side and cheat the system (easily doable) but I opted to stay within the boundaries of ... read more

Where do I begin.. 2014 was full of adventure. For me traveling is my passion! This past year for me was full of ups and downs. I found myself this year in a full-time salaried position in the city. This job was strictly 8 am-5:30pm and not extra time off with absolutely NO FLEXIBILITY! For the past three years, I always wondered what it would be to not worrying about what mood my boss would be in today. This job was very micromanaged and out of my control, I felt stuck. For three years, I continued doing the same thing everyday. I wanted change in my life but with the great income coming in it was hard to walk always from that. I knew I was at the lowest point in my life. I would come ... read more

Where does the time go? It's hard to believe that it is already 2015. I must go back and reflect one of the best travel experiences that I have ever had. I must say, 2014 entailed a lot of travel for this girl. On, June 28th, my fiance and I decided to go on a Western Caribbean Cruise with Carnival Cruise Lines. I didn't know what to expect because I had never been on a 7 day cruise. I thought it may be a bit long to be on a cruise ship. The cruise went out of Tampa, Florida and then continued on to Cozumel, Mexico. Once, we got to Cozumel we got off the cruise ship and it was time to explore. I had set up an excursion of the Mayan Ruins in Cozumel, this ... read more

Thursday, October 8th, 2014, 6:50pm- Denver, CO. There was an accident on the I-70. The bus I was hoping to take to downtown Denver is inching forward slower than I could walk. I sit in the front row making small talk with the driver prior to remembering my travel journal sits in my bag ignored and long abandoned. This was once my main travelling companion but since being replaced by my lovely wife and child has forgotten how well we once got along... It's a strange but familiar feeling being on the road alone with time on my hands. In some ways, it is boring. There is no obvious person to share new experiences with and I suppose this reduces the possibility of making meaningful memories. At the same time I feel a little more oriented ... read more

Our Arrival We arrived at the San Pedro water taxi dock on the East side of the island in torrential rain. There were some touts waiting to show rooms although most seemed pretty expensive. I waited with the bags under shelter whilst Gearoid went to look at the cheapest one for B$35. The rain started to ease so we decided to walk around and check some more places. Most were pretty expensive (about B$50/60 for a room) however after nearly an hour we found a really good guesthouse. Where We Stayed Sandy Lane Guesthouse - B$21.80 for a double room with sink and shared bathroom. Private bathrooms are available for B$38. The guesthouse is located at the bottom of the football pitch on the corner with middle street. From the ferry walk 1 1/2 blocks North ... read more

This is how we got from Flores Guatemala to Caye Caulker Belize. 1. We booked our bus to Belize City through Hostel Los Amigos in Flores for Q100. The bus picked us up at 5am, drove around picking a few more people up from different places and left the island at 5:25am. 2. We arrived at the border at 7:20am. Just before the border a cambio man got on the bus to change money claiming that at the border there was a worse rate, however the other changers at the border when you got off the bus offered the same rate. 3. The bus stopped with Guatemalan immigration on the right. No questions asked and no forms required. It cost B$5 or Q20 to get a stamp. When we were leaving we answered a tourism questionnaire. ... read more

Pozostał więc przejazd z Flores do Belize.

Our Intrepid tour officially ended this morning. Daniel had already left early this morning as he had to be in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico to begin another tour. Ken, Lindy, Oren, Manfred, and Lalanti were catching the 8:30 ferry back to Belize City as they all had flights to go back home. Nikki hung out with us until about 11 when she caught a ferry back to Belize City. That left me, Melanie, Troy, and the 2 Austrialian girls as the only ones remaining. Most of the group met up in the lobby at 8:30 to say our final goodbyes to those leaving back to Belize City. It was sad to say bye to everyone but this group didn't really forge a huge bond like other groups I've been with, most likely due to the short ... read more

We woke up this morning to beautiful blue skies, perfect for a day out on the water. The entire group was grateful that we didn't do this day trip yesterday under cloudy rainy skies. Waiting an additional day was well worth it. After another delicous breakfast at Amor y Cafe, we all met at Ragamuffin tours for our 10:30am departure. There were approximately 50 people and we were all divided into 3 boats. Daniel told us that we were going to be on a catamaran. However when we walked up to the boat, it was definitely not a catamaran. Despite this slight disappointment, we all made the best of it enjoying some fresh fruit and soaking in some sun as we ventured off to our first snorkeling spot of the day. We pulled into an area ... read more
