As I get to know the apartment I notice a few things. In our house there are vents in the ceiling where the air conditioner blows the air out and the hum of the air conditioner turning on and off. There isn't an air conditioner in the apartment and there are not any vents in the ceiling or floor. There are vents that line the baseboard. Apparently those are called baseboard heaters and is the most efficient way to heat a house in the winter. Who knew! Me and technology are not getting along this morning. I have three SD cards for my camera but for some reason two of them are now 'damaged'. That means I had to reformat both of the SD cards which means I lost a lot of the pictures I took ... read more

Today was probably one of the slower days that we have had since last Thursday. We woke up and just piddled through the morning. The next thing we know it is Noon so we figured we should go exploring before the rain settled in. We found out from the waiter at the Mexican place last night that Ithaca has 4 seasons. They are: winter, still winter, almost out of winter and construction season. This week the temperatures are supposed to be lows in the high 40's and highs in the low 70's. I'm not complaining. We packed clothes for this type of weather. Well, all except Timmy. He's the one that wears shorts year round. We all slept well again and we woke up with a little more pep in our step. We started the day off with a timed ticket to the Statue of Liberty so we had to hit the ground running. Step one was finding the right Subway to take to Battery Park. I have a Subway map that really helps out but in some cases it was hard to figure out exactly where you were on the map. The good news is that our apartment was right around a bunch of Subway stops so getting the right one was pretty convenient. Riding the subway is always fun for us. Welcome to New York City!! This is where theory meets reality. The theory of New York City I have been working on for six months on and off. So here's how the story of today goes...it's a long one but it's a funny one! Super Shuttle I looked around at other shuttle services but for some reason I kept coming back to the SuperShuttle. No real reason. All the services were basically the same rate and had the same type of car options. When our plane landed I received a text message from the SuperShuttle service with instructions on how to check in so after we got our baggage I went through the online check in process. Planning, packing, animals and we are on our way!!! A couple of you guys might have followed my last blog (www.mytb.org/starlingsacrossthepond) and I was pleased with it but maaaan it was a commitment! The main reason I start, continued and completed the blog was because it was just an amazing once in a lifetime trip and I really wanted to share it with folks. Hey everybody! It's that time again. Girls road trip 2017!!! Whoop, whoop! This year we are going to St. Augustine, Florida. It is the perfect spot because it is almost the same distance from Tallahassee and Wellington (where Heather lives). AS I have done in the past, let me introduce the ladies to ya!
