Geo: 11.5588, 104.917My flight from Bangkok was again smooth with Air Asia and on time. I arrived at Phnom Penh from Bangkok in the afternoon. Visa On Arrival for Cambodia Visa on arrival was simple as I had downloaded, printed / filled the form and attached my passport picture as well before I set off from London. They do give you a form on the flight to fill in case you have forgotten to print the form but do bring 2 passport pictures and also $20 for the Cambodian visas or they do accept the card. I was pleased I had done my homework well and I chilled on the flight while other passengers on flight were fumbling for pens in the middle of naps. At the Phnom Penh airport the visa stamping process takes 10 ... read more

Geo: 11.5588, 104.917 Planning the Trip You can get lot of more details and ideas for planning your trip from these sites. canbypublications.com/siemreap/temples/temp-… http://www.travelfish.org/travel-planning After picking up my luggage, I went outside to see Roy, the tuk tuk driver waiting for me, the traffic was crazy and motorbikes were coming from all places but it was very interesting ride. When I reached hotel which is middle of nowhere, I was not happy with my room no 3 on hotel "252" as it was on ground floor near the pool. Being a solo female, I had to close the curtains otherwise people can see my room and I did mention this to the hotel Manager but he did nothing. I had chosen this hotel for its good ratings on Tripadvisor. This is one hotel on my whole ... read more

Geo: 13.7308, 100.521 Next day I decided to go to Nonthaburi instead of Ayutthaya as I wanted to take it easy and relax in Bangkok, I took the Chao Phrya express boat from Si Phrya pier which is next to Royal Orchid Sheraton. There were many locals on the boat going to Nonthaburi, the Thai's have great respect for Monks and the Monks have separate sitting areas in the Chao Phrya express boat. The ferry ride was nice and it stopped at few stops on the way, the river boat is good way of seeing places in a different angle, I walked around the town, market and got fresh flower garland. The market was buzzing on Saturday morning, there were many sea food restaurant and street hawkers in Nonthaburi. I bought some cakes and loaves of ... read more

Geo: 14.0583, 108.277 After some research I decided to take the deluxe cruise with Huong Hai junk to Ha Long Bay as the Huong Hai junk has a single cabin, which costs less for solo traveller and also I liked the itinerary, this is a mid range cruise. My first impressions of Ha long Bay was Wow !!! Just Amazing... The itinerary included visit to Sung Son cave, which was magnificent, Nature at its best. Trek to Titov mountain had panoramic views of the Bay. People with more energy could do the trek and swim as well. The two Swiss guys in our group managed to do both. Later they also did kayoing. The junk was really nice and we were 11 people in total on the Junk. While we were waiting in the harbour, I noticed that ... read more

Geo: 21.0243, 105.855Next morning I woke up early and after shower I walked around the narrow streets in the old quarters, near the cathedral which were perfectly safe for a lone woman walking alone. I had done the necessary research about if I could walk alone by myself and I had been reassured that it was safe to do so in Hanoi. I did not carry any valuables/ bling and watched the sunrise which was really nice. I could not take the pictures as I left the camera at the hotel. A little later, the staff from Golden Sun Lake came to pick me up on motorbike for breakfast at Goldensun lake on the ninth floor with the view of the Hoan Kiem Lake. The ride on the motorbike was an experience, manoeuvring in the mad, ... read more

After breakfast I headed off to the Temple of Peace, taking bus 814, at the corner of my hotel. The temple is magnificent with a vast park, I took subway back to the hotel and headed straight to the airport by taxi for my flight to Hanoi. The taxi was on meter and it cost me 110 yaun with the tip. I had a brilliant time in Beijing and met some wonderful people, I am glad that I did this holiday Independently.
