We got a bus from KL to Brinchang which is in the Cameron Highlands about 4 hours from KL. It was a good trip, nice air conditioned bus with a couple of vital toilet stops. Its much cooler up here but not cold & we've been lucky as it has'nt rained yet. Our hotel is called Titiwangsa & is one of the cheaper ones here but is very good value. it cost us $38AUD for one night which includes breakfast & a steamboat dinner which we'd never done before. It's a combo of chicken, fish, & assorted vegies done in a steaming pot of soup, very nice & we greatly enjoyed it. The staff showed us what to do.Our room is very good , nice comfy beds, good shower & no air conditioning as its so ... read more

This is our one & only blog from bali as our resort only has wifi in the restaurant area.Lovely resort though right on the beach at legian about 20 minutes from Kuta. The weather here is very nice, warm but not hot as its winter, no humidity. The traffic is worse than Bangkok & the drivers are totally insane especially the motorbikes. They come at you from all directions even on the footpaths which are deathtraps for the unwary as there are giant holes everywhere & very narrow & uneven. Worse than Thailand!!! We had a lovely trip into the centre of the island to Mt Badur, a volcano which rumbles into life now & then, The restaurants at Kintimani have breathtaking scenery & very reasonably priced buffet lunch. The architecture is kind of spanish, up in ... read more

Well its finally here!!! we leave Thailand in 2 days time for a week in Bali, 6 days in Kuala Lumpur & then back to Oz. we're sad to leave & have had a ball, will be back asap. These last few days have been spent in Pattaya which is a 2 hour drive south of Bangkok on the Gulf of Thailand. It has a bad name as there are a lot of old white men with young Thai girls here & a very liberal sex scene but we really like what we've seen. There are 4 times more girls than boys here so a great shortage of jobs, especially in the country areas. The shopping here is great & at least on par with Bangkok, maybe even cheaper if you're good at bargaining. There are a ... read more

Settled in at Patong Beach, went to Phi Phi island on Sunday while the weather is good, took a fast speed boat trip so I did'nt get seasick {relief!!! Lovely out there, water is crystal clear & while its not a patch on our Barrier reef the islands sticking straight out of the sea are really awesome!!Girls tried snorkelling but did'nt like the fish coming near them. Our speedboat was Sea Angel & the skipper, Leonardo ,tormented the girls by throwing bread to attract the fish while they were snorkelling, !! Lovely lunch lots of choice & very tasty. Did Phuket Fantasea last night, absolutely great & this is the 3rd time we've been, still as impressive as ever.Doing Simon Cabaret tonight, the girls can't believe they are males. Elephant Trekking tomorrow & the girls leave ... read more

This hotel has no free wi fi so blogs may be less frequent. Elegance Suites, nowhere in the class of Taipan but not bad. Our grandaughter & her friend arrive tomorrow evening & this room will sleep 4 with a sliding door for privacy so its good in that regard & its right next to Robinson department store & Saphan Taksin skytrain station which goes direct to MBK. Great for their shopping. Will post some pics soon.... read more

Back in Bangkok for a couple of weeks. Did a trip through the canals or klongs that connect the waterways round Bangkok. Some 5 star houses & some not 5 star fronting the klongs.Imm Fusion Hotel was in a great location right at ON Nut skytrain & across the road from a huge Tesco Lotus store with heaps of markets in the evening. Good basic hotel & nice pool & restaurant & bar. In Taipan hotel now which is also in a top location at an interchange of the skytrain & MRT underground. Also very close to Soi Cowboy which has lots of clubs & girlie bars. Planning on watching Queensland Maroonwash NSW in State of Origin in a nearby sports bar on Wednesday. Our granddaughter Kaitlin & her friend Katie are flying out next Sunday. Looking forward ... read more
