We got a bus from KL to Brinchang which is in the Cameron Highlands about 4 hours from KL. It was a good trip, nice air conditioned bus with a couple of vital toilet stops. Its much cooler up here but not cold & we've been lucky as it has'nt rained yet. Our hotel is called Titiwangsa & is one of the cheaper ones here but is very good value. it cost us $38AUD for one night which includes breakfast & a steamboat dinner which we'd never done before. It's a combo of chicken, fish, & assorted vegies done in a steaming pot of soup, very nice & we greatly enjoyed it. The staff showed us what to do.Our room is very good , nice comfy beds, good shower & no air conditioning as its so cool here but not cold. The tv is on par with KL which is a sports channel & a movie channel in english. We leave for KL tomorrow but today had a great Nature Eco tour with Titiwangsa Tours, our guide, Kumar is passionate about the ecology & very knowledgeable. The tour lasted almost 5 hours & took in the forest & jungle, Mt Brinchang is the highest mountain in this region & we went to the summit which is 6666 ft high & was shrouded in mist. Then we had a "walk" through the forest but it was more of a steep trek!!! It was really interesting & Kumar's enthusiasm is infectious. We were in a mixed group of young europeans, 2 from Holland & 2 from Germany, 2 young Koreans, A couple from Oman & us, the oldies. The track was quite steep & in places a bit slippery but we all made it & enjoyed the mossy forest with its spongey floor over 2 metres deep in places & lots of ferns, orchids & pitcher plants, all of which were explained in detail by Kumar. We went to a Tea plantation & saw the processing of the tea from picking to finished product, then had a nice cuppa & a strawberry cake. This area grows a huge range of fruits & veges & Tony was a bit disappointed that the strawberry season is over but we'll come back again for that!!! All in all a great trip we would highly reccomend. This area is very different from Kuala Lumpur & its a lovely climate with no humidity.A lot of places do day tours from KL but I would reccommend at least one nights stay as its a long bus journey.Farewell to Brinchang, Back to KL.
