Went to White Temple near Chiang Rai, very pretty, like a wedding cake, then on to Golden Triangle where Thailand, Laos & Burma meet. This area got its name from the selling of opium for gold in the small islands in the Mekong River. They were no man's land & a quick escape through the maze of islands. the growing of opium is now illegal.The trip takes all day, we left at 7am & got back at 8.30pm, its a 3 hour road trip each way with a stop at the Hot Springs, then White Temple, then Golden Triangle, then lunch, a trip to the border with Burma for shopping at the markets & finally the Long neck Karen & Aka Tribe.
