March 7, Saturday A late start, not that we're in a hurry of course, and we rolled on along the gulf coast, through Perry and along State Rd 98, then up to SR 20 to avoid the mess of Panama City. A pretty ride took us to Destin Florida, right along the coast again, and we stopped to check prices at the Destin Inn. Price looked good, so we decided to stay 2 nights. We went to the movies, saw Slumdog Millionaire, which just won 7 Academy Awards. It deserved them. March 8, Sunday Today was a split up day... I rode on to Pensacola to go to the National Naval Aviation Museum, while Deb walked along the coast and shopped at Goodwill, had a latte at Starbucks, and had a day to herself. We've discovered ... read more

March 4, Wednesday Deb and I rode the shuttle bus to Hollywood Studios theme park and began another fun day with Mickey and friends. I was chosen to play a walk-on extra part/role at the Indiana Jones stunt show. I got to dress up as an Arabian shopper, and got to be on stage close to the action. It was lots of fun. This park had lots of things to do, but we had to cut the day a little short at the park because we had tickets for the 6 o'clock showing of the Cirque de Soleil in Downtown Disney. We caught a shuttle to one of the resort hotels, then rode another one to Downtown Disney and walked the entire length to the theater. The show was amazing ! If you ever get the ... read more

March 2, Monday We packed up camp, left a gallon of water for the neighbor who'd driven his van here with his new K1200R in the back, and went to find a motel for the night. We stayed just north of Daytona, for $90, and it was worth every penny. Wayne asked me to get him a room also, and we met up at the hotel early that evening. We walked to Pizza Hut for supper, and had a good time catching up with Wayne and Peggy. March 3, Tuesday We all packed up together, and headed down US 1 through Daytona Beach. More traffic today, but still nothing like what it has been reported. We rode together down to Titusville, and Wayne turned off to go see Cape Canaveral, while Deb and I headed for ... read more

February 27, Friday Another pack-up of camp, we are actually getting pretty good at this by now, and a quick run down Interstate 4 to the Day's Inn. This was to be a pleasant chance to sleep warm. I went looking for heaters again, and we ended up eating out for supper at Logan's - a steak house. February 28, Saturday After a lazy morning, we repacked our few "hotel" things, and off we went on back roads to Bunnell and the BMW reserved campground. Lots of Harleys riding by in various directions. The cost for this little venture was $20 per person per night, with no water available, and of course no electric. The tent area was nice though, with a few trees for shade - unneeded sadly - and the ground was reasonably firm. ... read more

February 25, Wednesday We rode down I-4 to Disney World, and began our magical time in Magic Kingdom. This was a great park, lots of fun even for adults, and we rode every ride with very little waiting time. They have instituted a Fast Pass system, where you can insert your park pass, get a ticket for a later time, and when you return, you go through a different line which gets you right to the front very quickly. Much better than standing in line for an hour, and from Disney's point of view, it gives you more time to wander through the many gift shops and buy food at the vendors. We had a great time together, and even got into the park without having to pay the $12 parking fee. On the return ride, ... read more

February 22, Sunday We packed up camp and drove to Siesta Key for a para-sail. Deb agreed to ride on the boat, but didn't want to go airborne. The ride out took about 45 minutes, and the day was perfect, no chop on the water, very little breeze. A trio took the first flight, and just as they got out about 100 ft off the boat, Deb announced that she wanted to go with me. Yeah ! Our turn came, and aloft we went, with the crew letting out about 1100 ft of cable, which put us up almost 900 ft asl ( above sea level ). The ride was tremendous, the view was stupendous and I would do it again in a heart beat. Deb gradually relaxed her grip on the lines, and enjoyed the ... read more

February 20, Friday This was our day to go do some sightseeing together, so Deb and I hopped on Bear and we went up to Sarasota to the Mote Aquarium. This is a great place, cost about $19 apiece, but worth every penny. It's always a treat to view the dolphins, but after playing with them in the Florida Bay, watching them in a tank just didn't have the same affect. We also stopped by the Selby Botanical Gardens, just south of the main marina in Sarasota, however I decided that another $18 was too much to look at some plants, plus we would not have had a lot of time to gaze. I began looking for a small electric heater, as we had the juice available, and the nights were extremely chilly, but everyone had ... read more

February 16, Monday We'd spent enough time in the Everglades, so we packed up and headed north along the Tamiami Trail, and then through a bit of central Florida on the way to Sarasota. We got into town around 8:00 pm and checked into the Day's Inn, which is along the Tamiami Trail, route 19, just north of the Ringling Museum. I called Kay again at Quest Outfitters, and asked if I could take advantage of their hospitality in order to make a bike cover for Bear. She told me I could pick up the machine and the material and work at the hotel. February 17, Tuesday I took off for Quest Outfitters, picked up the sewing machine and the material and notions, and returned to the Day's Inn. I also bought lightweight plastic at Ace ... read more

February 14, Saturday - Valentine's Day Up relatively early with a card and coffee for Deb, then I rode Bear over to the marina to say goodbye to Bob and Marilyn and to snap some pictures of their boat. Later, Deb and I suited up and headed into town for a trip to Wal-mart, some computer time in Starbucks, and a nice seafood lunch at The Big Chill restaurant on Key Largo. We returned to Flamingo after dark, lit up another campfire, and Deb presented me with a card and chocolate. What a girl ! February 15, Sunday We had an 8 o’clock reservation for a tandem kayak at the Marina, so we were up early and rode over. Thick fog on the bay was just beginning to clear off when we paddled out the channel ... read more

February 12, Thursday Morning hot showers, another confab with Mike and his maps, and we packed up for departure. We had been warned at Flamingo by a Ranger to find a spot this day and stay "hunkered down" due to the 3 day weekend of President's day. There was plenty of room at Flamingo, so we headed there for a four night stay. A pleasant but slow ride north on Route 1 through the keys brought us back to the Park entrance, and we continued on to Flamingo after a short stop for groceries, a small tent peg hammer, and coffee. We met a gentleman in an RV in the Home Depot parking lot who was from Vernon BC and knew some of the folks that Deb knows. Small world. We were allowed free entrance to ... read more
