March 7, Saturday

A late start, not that we're in a hurry of course, and we rolled on along the gulf coast, through Perry and along State Rd 98, then up to SR 20 to avoid the mess of Panama City. A pretty ride took us to Destin Florida, right along the coast again, and we stopped to check prices at the Destin Inn. Price looked good, so we decided to stay 2 nights. We went to the movies, saw Slumdog Millionaire, which just won 7 Academy Awards. It deserved them.

March 8, Sunday

Today was a split up day... I rode on to Pensacola to go to the National Naval Aviation Museum, while Deb walked along the coast and shopped at Goodwill, had a latte at Starbucks, and had a day to herself. We've discovered that an occasional "me day" is a good thing for both of us, even though we haven't had any problems with living this close together. The museum is amazing. Well worth visiting if you are anywhere in the area. It's been done first class, lots and lots of aircraft with good stories about them. It includes a formation of Blue Angels, hanging from the ceiling. The word was that when they were ready to unveil the new display, the museum personnel invited the Blue Angel crews over to pre-view it. The pilots walked in, looked up, then looked at each other. The curator asked " What's wrong?" The reply " They're to far apart". They were 24" apart at the wing tips, apparently MUCH to far for real Blue Angels...... That evening I pigged out at an all you can eat sushi bar.... awesome sushi, I ate 6 rolls, plus soup and salad. The deal was $19.95, all you can eat, but if you leave any you have to pay by the piece... I didn't leave any. Deb had fruit in the room. Sigh.
