When it comes to the weekend, after a very hectic work week, there’s never a better place to go then the beach. My go to mini vacation spot is hands down Destin Florida! It’s beautiful white sand beaches and blue water is my home away from home. It’s the perfect part of Florida to go to if youre not into the big party scene and love to eat great food and shop. Every time I stay here I always stay close to the main strip. There is public access to beaches, amazing restaurants and plenty of stores to satisfy your vacation shopping needs. AJ’s is one of my favorite places to eat in Destin. Their restaurant is perfect for a nice meal right on the water. When you’re finished eating right outside is the fisherman’s warf, ... read more

Saturday July 22nd, 2017 Day 1 The trip down took us longer than expected due to traffic, but it was all worth it when we got our feet in the sand. We walked down to the beach from our condo and spent some time wading in the surf. We later took a turn in the pool in the evening. Not a bad first day. We set up in the condo, went grocery shopping and got ready for a week of fun. Sunday July 23rd, 2017 Day 2 We all slept in on Sunday and then got our stuff together and went down to the beach around ten. We spent most of the morning in the water or relaxing under our canopy just enjoying the view. We each got a little too much sun, but we didn't ... read more

Well, we made it home by 10pm AND we got some great Cajun food along the way. Prejean's in Lafayette is awesome. I'll let our pictures speak for themselves. Hope you enjoyed the pictures.... read more

Well, as you have no doubt figured out by now (if not, the title above should tip you off), I did not "write moe tomorrow" nor the next day either. We have gotten some photos on various individual phones, and I really intend to post those when we get back. Today we parasailed, and we all loved it. We also ate at McGuires Irish pub. Delicious food, homemade root beer and a fun atmosphere. We have eaten at several interesting spots, not the least of which was Fudpucker's where David and Lizzie got to hold a baby alligator(and feed some bigger ones). Tomorrow we head home. If I can time it right I hope to get some great cajun food at a place called Prejean's in Lafayette. I doubt, however, that we can make it there ... read more

Following Savannah, we trekked on to Destin, Florida. Located on Florida’s Emerald Coast in the panhandle, this seaside town is known for its white sand beaches and vibrant green waters. Destin is located on a peninsula separating the Gulf of Mexico and Chochtawatchee Bay, so enjoy the lush water panoramic as you venture around. On your way to the waterfront area called HarborWalk, stop for lunch at The Shrimp Basket on Harbor Boulevard—while a little ways from the boardwalk, the prices are very reasonable for exceptionally fresh seafood. Their raw oysters were unforgettable, the popcorn shrimp was fried to perfection, and the coconut shrimp was complimented nicely with a delicious marmalade dipping sauce. As we sat there cooled by the ocean breeze while sipping every last drop of our juicy oysters, it felt like the ultimate ... read more

We wrapped up four great nights and days in Orlando! This morning at 5:30 I rolled Cynde out of bed and we hit the road toward Oklahoma. After we hooked up the FJ for towing, Cynde quickly returned to the warm snuggly bed for additional sleep. Our destination was back to Destin where we had made reservations at the RV Camp that is located directly on the beach! The temps in Destin were set to hit the 70's! Last week when we were there, the high was in the 50's. We were looking forward to some sun and surf. We pulled in around 2:15, set up camp, and took our newly purchased beach chairs down to the place where the beautiful white sand meets the georgous blue-green water. Although the water was still a little cool, ... read more

We've had a great few days in Destin enjoying Henderson Beach State Park and the local sites. Wish the weather had been better but we did see some glorious sunshine yesterday! The beaches here are just as spectacular as you could imagine- white sand and beautiful blue water. Sunsets on the beach are the best. Today we took a day trip on Scenic Highway 30A with the highlight being a trip to Eden Gardens State Park where we toured the historic Wesley homestead, a mansion built in 1897 by a lumber tycoon surrounding by 600 year old live oak tress and gorgeous camelia gardens. Check out some of the picures attached. Tomorrow we head to Orlando for some fun with Mickey! Being the Big Kids that we are, we can't get this close to Disney World ... read more

After three great days in Destin, it is on to Central Florida and Disney World in the morning! Our route will take us across the southern panhandle and down into western Florida. It will take us about seven hours of driving to get to Disney late tomorrow afternoon. Believe it or not, Walt Disney World actually has an RV Park!!! It is on the grounds of Disney's Fort Wilderness, so it should be really great! We will be there four nights before we will start our journey back to OKC. Thursday was spent browsing the antique stores and of course eating sea food. It was still unseasonably cold for January in Florida, but we braved the frigid temps and managed to make it to the beach in time for the sunset. Watching the sun set over ... read more
