So romantic
You and Mark look very happy in these photos. Sounds like a wonderful romantic Valentines Day. I hope Mark didn't get too jealous of the penguin?!$%^

Needless to say - we are jealous! Both looked great on the slope, doesn't look like Mark forgot how to ski! Guess the $20 bazillion on lessons really paid off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So you liked Fisherman's Lodge Jesmond Dene and the Lodge were VERY close to where we lived while there. We walked by the Lodge many many times, and always thought about having a meal there, but never did. Now I'm depressed we missed out on that since you enjoyed it so much. If you ever think of it, if you're out "Geocaching" sometime, there's a street that runs from Osborne Rd right down to the park called Lindisfarne Rd. Our street ran off Lindisfarne and was Adderstone Crescent. We lived at number 4 Adderstone Crescent...yes, it's millionare row. Check out some of the houses on that street. It's right behind St. Georges. There was a cute little cottage, I think called Rose cottage right across the street on the corner. Really nice gardens in the summer. Anyway...we heard the owner sold the house we lived in. It had a cool conservatory built in the early 1900's. We'd be curious if they've done any work on the place. If you ever think of it, and are bored, send us a few pics, to reminisce.
Thanks for keeping the blog going, we love keeping up with your adventures, and remembering doing many of the same things you are experiencing. - The Graham's, Chesterfield, MO
Alnwick What an adventure! I love all the pics...the tree house was very interesting. You must have had a great day. I feel I lived it with you just by viewing your photos. What a windy road with great signs! Thanks for sharing! -Kacy
The blog is great!! Sounds like you had a great day at the castle and garden. Keep doing the things you are doing to lets us know how things are going for you both. You will never know how much this means to us. Thanks
P.S. Use sidewalk if possible.
Dad
We're cracking up... We're reading your entries and laughing as we are reliving our 2 years there. First, yes!!! we agree. You're concept of good weather dramatically changes. Billy Connolly once said, there's no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothes. So we noticed you were having "good weather," and we noticed your both wearing your fleece jackets...while it's mid-90's here. LOL!
I didn't notice you mention that Alnwick is also known as the "Harry Potter Castle," as several scenes in the first 2 or 3 movies were shot there. Several movies have been shot at Alnwick Castle...it's really a nice castle. Amazing that a Duke still lives there.
Hi Just finished watching your latest blog pages and Kaitlyn going down the slide. Guess you 2 are having fun No mention of your working LOL Take care and Enjoy
Grandma
ps...it's Housesteads, not Homestead. ....and you really must see it. The entire countryside is beautiful. The Roman fort there is the best ruins we saw.
Make a day of it, and continue to the Lake District. Go see Glenridding, on Ullswater lake. Spectacular!!!
You've got lots to see and do, enjoy.
Forget about a picnic... You were 1/2 a block away from Marshalls. The best fish and chips you'll find anywhere. As one person put it, "if the fish were any fresher, it would be flopping around on your plate."
Discovering Durham... Not sure you received my previous email on a couple of restaurants. Let me know if you did. Good to see you've found Durham. Have you made it to the Cathedral yet? Spectacular! When driving in, I think it's the A690, when you get your first view it's just something you'll never get use to. Not something we see in the state much. Some great Itialian food in the city center there. Emelio's (Sp?) Just up from the Marriot before you get to the bridge. Also, if you walk to the other bridge that crosses the river, there's a Bella Italia (it's kind of under a Pizza Hut) that my wife liked to go to look out at the river, have a "starter" and a coffee. Then, walk out the back of Bella Italia, up the path going way up the hill along the river, and you're right at the Cathedral.
p.s...if you've survived Cricket, and the Hoppings (Chav heaven), you can survive anything. I never did grasp a sport that could last 5 days, and end up a tie.
The Glory of Cricket Yep, you can't beat it. Sitting around, waiting for some good weather and the chance of play. The excitement builds, umpires, ... fielders ..., couple of batsmen ... and then the rain starts again.
It's audience participation at it's best. You took a risk going in June, you should have waited for the summer
Mind you - remember that when us Brits go over to the US and soak up baseball - we haven't got a clue why your so-called batsmen carry bats, they only hit the ball ~once per team per innings :-)
Keep up the cultural experiences
Matt
