Holy moly I am beyond jealous! Aside from being one of my dream destinations, I seriously miss tropical snorkeling!! I used to just go whenever I felt like it. 1 more year, then I can begin to travel. Hopefully you'll still be up for traveling and will accompany me on some more amazing adventures! Miss you!
Miss you too! Always up for traveling and whenever I snorkel, I think of you and how much you love it! I meant to give you a shout out in this one, but I forgot. :p When you graduate, we will celebrate big!
Water looks stunning! I was wondering whether there were any cheap accommodation in the Maldives. Are there hotels on every single beach? Is each island very tiny?
Hotels in Maldives There is not a hotel on every island, but just about every hotel/resort is on its own private island. I believe you can get "cheap" accommodations in Male, the capital, but I would suggest getting package deals because that is what most places offer. It generally includes food and impeccable service. Be sure that you understand what the transfer fees are though. The islands are very spread out, so depending on where you are, the transfer costs (seaplane, boat ride) can be expensive. Ours was about $300 from Male International Airport to our hotel - this included the seaplane and boat ride. The islands also generally accept American dollars, even providing the costs in USD. Good luck!
NO SWIMMING Pity you couldn't swim here due to snails of all things. Seems camels don't read or don't care. Sink holes...limestone caves...silent beaches and deserts. Oman seems full of delights.
Wow! Ok, I'm all caught up now, and WOW! I want to be like you when I grow up! :) This trip looks amazing, despite the hard mattress and lack of finding things that were supposed to be there. Miss you!
Business class You lucky dog! Now that is the way to fly. Had to laugh at you critiquing this flight against another. Seriously? ha ha :) Let us know when you are heading back to the states. Back to work with you!
service Haha - yeah, it was bad of me to do, probably, but it was quite different. The ladies were nice, but did not seem to be as efficient. There were less people on this flight, but my other flight it seemed I had someone (actually 2) specifically assigned to me. This flight had anyone so they asked me if I wanted tea or coffee literally every two minutes, which got annoying. Just one example... Haha. I'm such an elitist jerk now...
Oh, a taste of home... I'm from Santa Barbara and have lots of friends in Ojai, but have been traveling in South America for several years. It was so great to read of your visit to so many of my fave spaces (the delish Los Arroyos). How great that your friend is managing the new SB Public Market--my foodie friends are raving about it. Thanks for the hit of home!
It was so great to see you! Hello buttercup
Thanks for coming to visit. It was really fun to see you. I hope you are having a fun time back east. I'm looking forward to your next blog entry.
Cheers,
Romsa
I was an engineer on a long term assignment, first in Dubai and then in Qatar. During this time, I took advantage of my nice paycheck and proximity to other places to start seeing the world. After three years, I decided to take a much earned break and traveled for a year. After working about two years in New York State, I am on my way back to Dubai.... full info
