SSooooooooooo jealous While I enjoy school, I am rather bummed that while I'm toiling away studying for exams and writing lab reports, my friends are globe-trotting to places I really want to go one day...Happy for you! Motivation for me to get my degree and find a good job so I can join you on your travels. :)
Great pictures!!! Thanks for sharing. Riding quads in the sand looks awesome. I hope this finds you safe, healthy and happy, Pookie. Can't wait for the next blog post.
Maria huh Yeah, that probably translates better. Since parts of the world Alexis is a male name. I love learning about other cultures. I think it would be fun to learn more about Islam, especially in Arabic, since that's the language of the Quran. If they try to convert you, you can always stop, but by acting a little interested, you'll probably learn so much more about the culture! Sounds awesome to me!! Can't wait to hear about it from you. Enjoy!
it looks delicious That chicken and mushroom pot pie looks delicious. That's the sort of thing I enjoy. I understand how work can really take over a persons life. I was so delighted when I finally got everything lined up for an early retirement. Now travel is "my job" and I put a great deal of time doing homework on the locations I visit but it's the kind of work I enjoy. It's good you are learning the language of the location you are at. I have tons of Language Learning material for various languages that I had thought I would take on when I retired but can't muster the self discipline to do it so when I go to those countries I just have to do the best I can. At least having lived in Texas most of my career I managed to pick up enough Spanish to get by when I visited Mexico last winter.
Pot pie Sorry, thought I'd responded. Yes, the chicken and mushroom pot pie was delicious! I saved it all for myself.
I also enjoy catching up on your journeys through the US. I want to go back to New Mexico and take my time to savor the beauty... Keep writing!

Those cupcakes look amazing! It sounds like you had a good, productive week, pookie. I like that picture of the Dubai Marina, very pretty. Hope this finds you safe, healthy and happy. Blog again soon!
Sweet! Pun intended! Sounds like a fun-gluttonous time! You deserve it with all the hard work you have ahead of you. Have fun being the boss for a bit! I'm sure you'll impress. :)
It's 5 o'clock somewhere.... :) Hehehe! Probably where that saying actually came from. Sounds like you are quite the busy happy girl for the time being. Yay!! We need another FT date. :) Miss and love! xoxox
sandstorm very interesting to read about the sandstorm and the bar scene. thanks so much for the blog post and the great pictures. hope this finds you safe, healthy and happy, pookie. ventucky misses you!
A Monday shamal I was caught in that sandstorm too - but had just existed the metro to see the clouds of sand swirling towards me, so made a hasty move to the nearest shopping mall. Despite my pace, I was still covered with a light layer of sand. I can see why you love Dubai, and it is my intention to resettle here in the coming months. Would be great to meet in Dubai during one of your visa runs!
sandstorm I was surprised because I didn't know anything about the storm on the ride to the airport. I'm pretty happy in Dubai and I think it is overall a good, international city but still with the feel of arabia. So yes, we will have to get tea or something one day. Enjoy Doo-bye!
Fun I want to go dune bashing! If I ever make it to visit we must do this! :) And I love the inside of the pyramid hotel, very cool! Miss you! We should FT soon! xoxox
Classic picture! Hello Pookie
I love the picture of the goats in the back of the truck. That is awesome. They look like they are having a wonderful trip.
Hope all is well for you, Buttercup.
Cheers,
Romsa
They're camels actually! Hello darlin! Yes, not goats this time: Camels! We were cracking up as none of us had seen camels in a truck before. And they looked pretty content. The guy was not exactly driving like they were there, and their heads were weaving with the truck's turns. It was hilarious. :)
Miss you and thanks so much for always keeping up with my blogs!
I would go to Budapest... ...to answer your question. I have some Peace Corps friends who spent some time there and they said it was incredible. Thanks for the blog entry and the photos. I hope this finds you well, buttercup.
Budapest Hey sugar pie! I definitely do want to go to Budapest while I'm here and I think a good long weekend would be the perfect time. But I just can't justify a $1500 plane ticket for three days... Plus less crowds after summer, so I'll probably go later this year. But I'm glad to hear it is recommended. It looks like I may go to Oman for Eid. We'll see!
I was an engineer on a long term assignment, first in Dubai and then in Qatar. During this time, I took advantage of my nice paycheck and proximity to other places to start seeing the world. After three years, I decided to take a much earned break and traveled for a year. After working about two years in New York State, I am on my way back to Dubai.... full info
