We have just spent a week in the South of France. We stayed in two different B&B's, both in restored 300 year old houses. Uzes was a good place to explore Avignon (The City of the Popes), The Pont du Gard (a Roman aquaduct) and Orange (the Roman Ampitheatre). The driving is good with miles of winerys and pretty villages along the way. Gordes is an hour away in the next region. This area is more provincal: stone and terracotta houses, wine, olives and ancient villages hanging off hilltops. It's beautiful, for me the most picturesque area so far. We visited Gordes, Roussillon, Menerbes (all classified as some of the most beautiful villages in France). Mark loved the natural water fountain at Fontaine de Vaucluse.
