DAY 140 Jesus it was a cold night, but as the day had been so hot it was a worthy trade off, we slept soundly in our beds, whilst the wildlife went about its business in its own sweet way. We can't believe we have been away 20 weeks today and it has gone in a blink of an eye. A lady told me that two Possums were fighting last night, and one of them fell out of the tree with a hell of a thump. We found loads of fur just by the trailer this morning but it all must have happened before we went to bed as we never heard a thing and everyone was tucked away in their caravans before we went to bed. I must just say one funny thing about caravan ... read more

DAY 139 The nights are definitely getting warmer, it feels great after being so cold at night and struggling to keep warm. We are up relatively early and off to the camp kitchen for tea and toast. We forgot to get some butter when we went shopping so we are just about to run out, thankfully we have enough for toast this morning. We sort out the walls for the awnings to make sure that they are all dry so that they can be folded and put away properly. The last month has not been easy getting anything dry, but I mustn’t grumble. It seems that the few people left on the campsite this morning are all doing their washing, except for me, I did mine a few days ago. The washing lines are already full. ... read more

DAY 138 I heard Andy get out of bed and could hear footsteps around the tent, he reappears and says “Dennis is still outside but he had changed trees”, excellent our very own camp Koala is still hanging round with us. Andy went to get the kettle on and spark up the laptop, I followed shortly after with the breakfast things. Thankfully it is a fairly warm morning, though still a bit cloudy there is no sign of any rain. I hope that it stays that way. I did comment in the kitchen this morning but a lady said, “Oh No we need the rain”, I agree I know South Australia and many other parts of Australia need the rain, I am purely thinking from a selfish point of view that camping is a lot easier ... read more

DAY 137 I know why Nissan chose to test the Patrol in Australia. Oh God, I hear Andy opening the zip on the inner windows of the tent; I think he must be letting the daylight in, too early surely? No, Andy confirms that it is 7.15! Andy wanders off for his shower while I ease myself into the daylight, what little of it there is. However I need to get up and with it, so that I have time for a shower before breakfast. We are both looking forward to the adventure that today will bring, as we are off to Kangaroo Island, where we hope to continue our search for wildlife. We pack the tent up while it is still dry, the weather over the see looks as if it is bringing rain with ... read more

DAY 136 Waking up to a warm morning in the Coorong National Park, the sun was strong and we enjoyed lying in bed and soaking up this sunshine. We had a busy morning sorting a few things out and wandering around this wilderness of a camp site. There were a few campers here, one or two have gone already, We admired the views of the flats. I drove up to the loo’s, they were too far away to walk! They are long drop loos as well, yuck, but at least there are loos here and I have to say that these are some of the cleanest long drop loos I have come across.. When I came back we had a light breakfast of tea and cereal. Packed away the tent and repacked the trailer. Wandering down ... read more

DAY 135 Waking up to iffy weather this morning weather was a bit iffy, it had rained in the night, (Typical) when you want to put the trailer tent away, still it had to be done what ever the weather. I got up early as I needed to write the blog, we also had access to mains power and as we were moving on today, it was mothers day in the UK and we both wanted to speak to our mums tonight, and more likely than not we would be free camping without any electricity, so we had to make sure the laptop was fully charged. The trailer was finally packed away we wanted to say farewell to the family “Next Door” the Blytons, Tim Sharon and Wade, in their lovely T-Van. We hit the road ... read more

DAY 134 Throughout the night the Koala’s were calling into the darkness with their soulful bellow, trying to entice a mate. This morning we were up early and the Koala’s were still bellowing so we put on our boots and walked off down the track to see where this noise was coming from. It was only 8.00am and we were on a full yomp in the bright morning sunshine. Every time we heard them bellow it sounded like we were getting closer. Strangely enough Koala’s are solitary creatures but the sound suggested they were a large group. It may have been a swingers club for Koala’s. On and on we walked, bellow after bellow we walked, until we came to part of the forest that was dense vegetation, and so different in colour, obviously newer shoots, ... read more

DAY 133 We woke up today, after a cold night, to a very bright sunny day, we didn’t get out of bed particularly early, about 8.00am when we wandered in to the camp kitchen for tea and toast, oh and to do some blog work. We were just sitting talking about our plans for the day when two people came in and started talking to us, they had a large Jayco trailer and he was scoping out the site to see if he could manoeuvre it in, what concerned him was the air conditioning unit on the roof and the low branches, and sensibly he didn’t want to do any damage to it. DAY 132 Title Time & Lime We got up earlier today as we are moving on from Warrnambool, so a quick breakfast of tea and toast before packing up camp. Just before we leave town we head over to Rays Outdoors to return the faulty camp kitchen that we had purchased the day before. We were disappointed; however there is no point in paying all that money for something that is not complete. They took it back without any fuss, and frankly so they should. So still without a table we thought we would pop into the large Bunnings next door (equivalent to B&Q in UK), we had a look around the outdoor area, looking for picnic tables we asked for some help as we could not see what we wanted, they took us to a ... read more

DAY 131 Waking up to a nice warm morning, it feels like a long while since we had one of those and we were happy, because we were warm. Making full use of the camp kitchen I did a full English Breakfast for us, it went down very well. Having our powered site, let us charge everything up, I bet the electricity meter was spinning last night as we charged one thing after another. We needed to do a few chores today, so got some washing on the line, typed up the blog, downloaded photos etc. Eventually we got going, and headed straight for the mini golf that we had passed when we first drove in to Warrnambool yesterday. It was going to be a grudge match, on Caroline’s behalf, as I whooped her last time. ... read more
