Plaza de Espana
I smiled when I read that you love the Plaza de Espana - it's our favourite plaza too! We could easily live in most cities and towns in Spain, but I think Seville would be at the top of the list :)

:-). Seville and Madrid are our favourites, and of course the little village of Cómpeta in the Axarquía. But still we do not know the northern cities of Spain. Happy travels to you guys!

A city to love
With all our travels we have not been to Spain. It is on our short list. Glad you found a wonderful hostel. Osuna looks lovely. We'll use your blogs when planning our trip to Spain.

HAPPY MEMORIES
Alhambra for Nina's birthday is very special. Happy memories. I highlight this pic as I like it and sometimes these sort of pics stick in the mind and remind one of a place associated with happy memories.

Hi Dave, thanks for highlighting the pic. Glad you enjoyed it. For us all our pics from this day remind us of my unforgettable birthday. All the best, Nina

Happy 40th, you youngster!
The Alhambra--one of my favorite places--what a perfect place to spend your birthday! And the Alpujaras, too. I stayed a couple of weeks in Capileira, hiking and visiting the other pueblos. When you're back in shape, you'll love hiking those mountains, including Mulhacen, the highest in Spain, which is really easy to climb. Happy birthday travels!

Birthday wishes
Thanks, Tara, for your Birthday wishes. Oh yes, we had a wonderufl day. And we are really lokking forward to go hiking in the Sierra Nevada. We have read that there is a trails surounding the mountains. It must be beautiful and a good challenge. I keep up getting fitter - maybe next year. All the best, Nina

Happy Birthday
It sounds like returning to the Alhambra was a great birthday decision. And...a tapas bar at the end didn't hurt.

"A new life"
Congratulations on good health. Not something to be taken for granted. But, you've done the right thing and hit the road to explore. Again, we can't tell you how happy we are that you are feeling better and your word descriptions convey the excitement, relief and appreciation that come after those trying times. Your blog makes us want to book the next flight to the adorable locations you have described. Please have a cerveza for us....with your toes in the sand. How lovely to picture.

Cerveza
Dear Dave & Merry Jo, oh yes, we will have a cerveza thinking of your nice words - still looking for a stretch of sand to place our feet ;-). It makes me very happy that I could put my feelings into my words even though it is in english. Thanks a lot for your comment. Hopefully, you can soon book your next flight - and hope to see you soon. All the best, Nina

Thank you!
Hi Dave, Thanks a lot! Oh yes, we are indeed happy and it is great to hear that one can notice it in my writing (even though it is not my mothertongue ;-)). My illness has changed a lot. Even though nothing will be good again, I now feel better than before. Well, when you have had a near-death experience, you see things in life differently. Happy and safe travels to you! Nina

A new life in the pueblos blancos
First, congratulations on your healed abdomen and new life. It must have been scary to think that you, such an inveterate traveler, might have to give up a life of adventure. Then, how great to visit these adorable little pueblos blancos in Spain--Competa sounds like a dream. Glad you've got your traveling legs back on--bravo!

LOOKS LIKE A NICE AREA
Hi there. I've not been to that part of Thailand...looks nice and peaceful from your pics...enjoy.
4th February 2013

oh yes, it is peaceful!
Hi Dave, the area is lovely with stunning landscapes and a lot of green. Can only recommend it! Would have loved to explore the area further south to the boarder to Myanmar with even fewer tourists but I was running short of time. Well, on my next visit.... Cheers, Marc
