So landed in Sydney after a 4 hours flight on quantas with very old air stewards! I got myself to the Big Hostel in Surry Hills, ad first impressions was very friendly staff and having landed in room 101, i already met some lovely people who suggested i go up to the roof terrace for a drink. Having left my stuff and made up my top bunk bed, i went up the fire escape stairs to the roof, only to find that there was no proper bar, but yes a fridge full of beers. So i spent a few hours up there meeting more people from all over, spain, france, brazil, germany, not forgetting the crazy irish and enjoyed a few tooeys! I had four days in Sydney so i ventured out on my little walking ... read more

So left Coral Bay and headed up to Exmouth. A mission to be acomplished! After 150km of just one straight road, we arrived at the national park of Cape Range, i think that's what it was called. Anyway there we spent a lovely afternoon on an amazing beach called Turquoise bay. It literally was the most pristine beach ever, but definitely only accessible by car and quite a way into the national park. Miles from anything. I snorkeled there just off the shore and let the strong current drift me downstream along the beach. The corals were beautiful, the fish in abundance and even sswam with a shark and rays. The current very strong at one point although i was without fins and did ok to get out of the sea and throw myself back on ... read more

Sorry for being out of touch for so long, but been busy since i arrived on this continent! Spent my first 10 days visiting Perth city, which basically was done very quickly as this is not really a city but a town! Strolled around Kings Park where the crows make very loud calls to eachother and also did some window shopping and people watching in the main shopping streets of Perth. The sites were scary, the people badly dressed, and really if you're into fashion of any sort, this is not the place! They have NO dress sense here. Anyway went up to Yanchep National Park which was close to where i was staying at my friends house. There, i was very fortunate to see several kangaroos for the first time in my life, in the ... read more

For my last week in Bali, i left Ubud and the mainland and took a speedboat off to the Gili islands. The trip from Legian took under 2 hrs by road to Padangbai and then from their 1h30 to reach the Gili islands. I got off at the largest one, Trawangan. This looked liked paradise. Largest of the 3 islands in the Gili's but small enough to find peace and quiet, your own spot on the beach, your own lagoon to dip into every day and just enough choice of places to eat at night or to enjoy a sundowner over a beautiful sunset. Would've been rude not to hey!!! The journey over to the islands was quick and easy, and understood only once we were on the boat why it was a closed in speedboat, ... read more

Ok, so left Legian behind me a week ago, having had good times there with good friends, some old, some new. So after many times having been asked if i wanted transport, transport? i head off on my own transport, out of the busy seaside town, heading up to Ubud, to the peace and calm. And yes, that is what i have found whilst being up here. Beautiful countryside, ricefields, serene scenery and generally a nice mix of truely balinese culture and people and some other. Have been cycling through the countryside and down through villages from Mt Batu, a small volcano and lake area in the north east. I have found a great yoga barn place that has a wide selection of different yoga sessions. Having tried several classes, i have found the perfect one, ... read more

Air Asia was a pleasant short flight from Singapore, just a mear 3hrs which is nothing for the journeys i have taken in the last 2 months! Landed on this island and went straight to Balangan beach on the south peninsula of Bukit where i parked myself at a surf warung (bungalow on the beach) for a few days and soaked up some sun and sea! Waking up to the view of surfers already out catching the waves at 09h30 was wonderful to say the least and the days there were totally unstressful. I lived on fresh fruit juices and and very quiet evenings catching up on some reading, as not had the chance to do much of that since i left Belgium!!! It was one of the best surf spots here so I am told ... read more

Just under a week in Singapore was a pleasant experience. The streets well lit and no need for a head torch at night as in many places in India! Never seen such a clean city and uncrowded and easy to navigate metro system. During my days there i explored the downtown area and did a bit of retail therapy. Had a few nights out on sky high bars up 70 floors on the top of a building and boogied away on the dance floor! The formula one was certainly a one off experience and being almost front row of the stand it was a thrilling and noisy 61 laps watching cars zooming by and trying to keep up with them. Hamilton unfortunately didn't make it this time but it was all about webber and that was ... read more

Having arrived just over a week ago in sparkling clean Singapore, i literally headed off after one night at my friend Manons to catch a dreaded 10hr night bus to the Perhentian islands. The awful thing about this bus ride was not only the crazy driving by the driver, which i noticed having arizen from the dead and in the need of a pee stop. This was when i noticed all other passengers were dead to the world, whilst i was witnessing the craziest overtaking skills (after india, still quite crazy driving, just no honking but lots of light flashing!). Anyway having arrived on the smaller island of the two, Cecil island and spent much of the morning searching for a decent guesthouse which took cc payment, we finally settled in at the Matahari guesthouse and ... read more

So the minibus was booked and the decision taken to hit the famous manali-leh road on the morning of the 8th sept. Who was to know what an amazing road trip that woul dbe for myself and friends who were booked to take the 2 day road trip through the himalayas! After various travel stories, mostly scary ones from others we braved the road trip ourselves, only to find it was the most inspiring road trip i have ever taken, not to mention the breaktaking views one after the other of almighty peaks and valleys. Ofcourse the sky was the brightest blue with only a few puffs of cloud to add to the painting effect. The scenery out of this world, the locals people we saw en route were just lovely, amazingly interesting looking faces and ... read more

ha ha ha what an adventure that was! Manali also came and went and sorry for not updating you on my adventures there sooner but to be honest since we left Mcleod Ganj on the 3rd Sept, it has been just one big adventure since. Had a great time as you can probably imagine, meaning that updating travel blogs was the last thing on my mind. So I left Mcleod Ganj the night of the 3rd with some other friends who i had made whilst in Mcleod. We decided to go for the night bus option which was a 10hr bus ride, leaving around 8.30pm and arriving into Manali about 6am. This is where it all went tits up. Got on the bus and headed out of Dharamsala and along the dark road for about 2 ... read more
