I have come face to face with the opportunity to embark on a journey which I have always wanted to do, literally to travel around the world with enough time to enjoy the best life has to offer. A dream is about to come true. You can follow me for the next 5 and a half months starting 2 Aug 2011. I will do my best to keep this travel blog updated for friends and family, but the best will be actually living the dream and all that is meant to happen in it!

My last days in San Francisco were memorable to say the least. I spent them walking the city from one area to another, visiting friends in Sausalito, as well as visiting parks and Lombard street as well as catching up with friends in Powell and other central areas. Ofcourse a trip like this did not end without a big bang night out in true Levis style, so I organised a final get together with my dear friends who I was soon to leave behind in California, before heading back to Europe to to the reality check of what was waiting ahead! All I can say is for those who have been following me on this blog, this kind of a trip is definitely something to reccomend and a must do, if you ever get the chance ... read more

North America » United States » California » Lake Tahoe January 1st 2012

Having got back from Santa Cruz and the camping, i almost head straight up to Tahoe to meet up with other friends and who were chilling up there and had invited me to spend new years weekend with them. It was the most chilled new years eve i ever had, with good friends, good drinks and good food. Having taken 2 buses and a train, total 5hr journey to get up there, i can say this place was well worth the trip, as it was calm and beautiful peaceful scenery and that was just what i was after this year. We saw in the new year and made the most of every minute up there, by taking lovely walks around the lake and i even dived into the lake on new years day as it was ... read more

So i set off with friends by road from San Francisco heading down the highway to Joshua Tree. Stopped at the ghost town of Calico on the way, arriving just in time for the sunset. We then continued further down, so total of 8hrs driving until we got to our travel lodge in Joshua Tree. For those looking for a pleasant budget hotel, this one on 29 palms avenue was definitely to be recommended! Hot tub, large rooms, bathroom, all the goodies and a hot tub and gym!!!! Not bad for 25 dollars per person a night! Next day we spent the day exploring the wonderland of boulders and amazing scenery in and around Joshua Tree National park. We even saw the San Andreas fault from a view point and down onto the Coachella Valley and ... read more

North America » United States » California » San Francisco » Mission December 20th 2011

After a 14hour flight from Sydney I lost a day but arrived earlier than i left Sydney in San Francisco!!! Went straight to Levis Plaza and surprised several of my friends who now work in these offices! I am now settled in Hayes, a very quaint area of San Francisco, staying with good friends and having a good time. California so far is a lovely sunny place and i have been very lucky to be shown around by my lovely friend Betty. She takes me to new areas of the city every day and so far we have been to the hippy quarters, to Alamo square, to Union Square, to Fishermans wharf, out to Oakland and to Mission too. Many more places to be covered, but next stop will be our road trip down south to ... read more

Oceania » Australia » New South Wales » Sydney » Surrey Hills December 18th 2011

So after a long night bus journey, i arrived back at the Big Hostel in Surrey hills, to be met by the friendly gang who work there again! I then head out to Manly beach by ferry which was a beautiful ride through the harbour with amazing views ofcourse, albeit it was not a day for beaching it. After a wander around the seaside town at Manly i bumped into my slovakian friends that I had met on the Whitsundays sailing trip. We had drinks back in Sydney down by the quays and later met up with my little spnish friend for a chinese meal in Chinatown. Cramming it all in on my last day, i did some Christmas shopping ready for my next stop in San Francisco, and ended the Oz experience by meeting up ... read more

Oceania » Australia » New South Wales » Byron Bay December 15th 2011

This was definitely a nice spot, somewhere i wish I would've stayed for longer, but unfortunately i was counting the days at this stage for my last days in Oz before flying off to the US. So two days it was, to be spent at the Aquarius backpackers, a lovely spot, very friendly and again met some lovely people. Shared with lovely girls from Eastern Europe, Brazil, Sweden and Canada!!! Here in Byrons, the weather was not wet but not boiling either so not really full beach weather. This was naughty in the sense that i ended up spending my days browsing the shops and spending money i should not have been spending! However, saying that, i have some lovely souvenires or pieces should i say from there and i will always remember this place as ... read more

Oceania » Australia » Queensland » Surfers Paradise December 14th 2011

So my Surfers Paradise experience was probably different to that of many others, as I was actually picked up from Surfers bus terminal but quickly whisked away to a place just south of the main built up "city" which is called Surfers Paradise. To be honest as we drove though the city and along the beach, there were actually not that many surfers there so this is all a myth. On the other hand i didn't stop for long enough to watch them as i was whisked away as i said to my friend Traceys house down by the lovely waterways, or so i called it the Miami Vice area south of the town. It felt like this as each house had a jetty outside at the back of the house and many had their own ... read more

Oceania » Australia » Queensland » Noosa Heads December 13th 2011

Arrived in Noosa Heads and went straight to the lovely Halse Lodge down by the beach. I was just in time for an afternoon at the beach which was literally 150meters from the lodge. This one i must say was probably the nicest backpackers i stayed at, it was a very colonial wooden building and i luckily had a room with just 5 others sharing, 6 in total. I head straight to meet my lovely friend Maisie whom i had met on Fraser. Instead of doing a walk along the national park and ocean, we sat on the beach chatting all afternoon, literally until sunset. That night we decided to take it easy and spend a girly evening treating ourselves to a nice meal and bottle of wine which was just perfect and very much needed ... read more

Oceania » Australia » Queensland » Fraser Island December 10th 2011

So having arrived in Hervey Bay after a whole day travelling down by road from Airlie Beach on the Greyhound, I just checkin to flashpackers hostel which was fine and then checked out first thing in the morning and head over to Fraser Island for my cool dingo experience! Not good news as it was raining, in fact pooring whilst we crossed on the ferry over to the island, however i was lucky to be sat next to a lovely girl from Oxford whom i became friends with almost straight away. On arrival we all checked into our eco lodge, thank god, no camping for me, or cooking either!!! Much happier to have a bunk bed than do any sort of camping to be honest!!! The 3 day tour was a great laugh and we were ... read more

Oceania » Australia » Queensland » Airlie Beach December 6th 2011

So got myself up to Airlie beach via Hamilton island on the whitsundays, to be met by rain, well tropical warm rain, however not good for sailing trip. Still it was perfect so that i could catch up on admin and downloading pics etc. Two days later the sun shone just as i headed out on the Powerplay catamaran for the 2 days sailing around the whitsunday islands. The crowd onboard were fun and the nice too. The sailing experience was nice all in all and Whithaven beach did live up to its world class beach status. The weather luckily was perfect for sailing and sunbathing, so no complaints there. Made some lovely new friends onboard and had a great time. Thoroughly enjoyed watching the dolphins swim around the boat at night. It was magical. However, ... read more
