Well, the Blog title refers to the fact that this is more than just a new entry it is my First entry. I considered the title "Waiting" but that didn't have the same punch, agreed? My wife Liz and I are working and travelling all over this beautiful country and hope to do so for a long time together. We started in March this year but I will just touch briefly on that verbally, I will however do it in a more comprehensive way photographically. I am a little partial to taking the odd snap or three and have managed to snag the occasional nice one, I hope you enjoy them. We left the Sunshine Coast in QLD for our first work destination. Now all of you who have been in the same position as I ... read more

Darwin what an interesting city this is. Having been born in Melbourne and then living on the Sunshine Coast from 1993 Darwin the Capital City of the NT was a bit of a surprise. Not in a bad way it was just more like a large country town and that my friends is a good thing believe me. To see how the Sunny Coast has changed over the last 20 years has been disappointing though the fact is that's progress - apparently. It has gotten busy too busy and that is where Darwin was a pleasant surprise it is modern but without the crowds big cities usually bring. This city was bombed during World War 2 as were a number of other locations in the Top End by the Japanese but played an enormous part in ... read more

Kakadu everybody knows or has heard something about Kakadu and for good reason but whatever you do if you come to the Territory to visit Kakadu and you don't allow time to visit Litchfield NP you are doing yourself an enormous disservice. As mentioned in my "Litchfield" blog you must see both of these parks as they are both spectacular yet are somewhat a bit like chalk and cheese. Let me explain :- Kakadu - Aboriginal artwork and plenty of it, huge vistas and magnificent scenery, crocodiles, an enormous array of birdlife, other interesting fauna and flora, entry fees, waterfalls (though they are not flowing all year 'round) and covers an area of 19,804 km2.. A big big park! Litchfield - Historical sites ,vistas and magnificent scenery, safe swimming (except for the Wet season), a huge ... read more

We spent 3 months working at Litchfield Tourist Park which is located just 4 km's from the entrance to the National Park. This is a spectacular part of the NT and should be included in everybody's trip to the Top End. Many attractions are available to be enjoyed and it costs absolutely nothing to see them, do allow yourself at least 2 - 3 days though you can easily spend more time there. Following are photos taken in the park and then some of the surrounding area.... read more

When I was a young fella, a while ago now we did not have many travel shows on TV. Possibly the only one and maybe the first highlighting Australia was The Leyland Brothers, well even back then they inspired me to one day hit the road and see what it was all about myself. I recall seeing the Devils Marbles at some point and thought well that is a must do. Now if you are cruising along the Stuart Highway you simply cannot miss these babies - Mother Nature is pretty amazing!... read more

This is another photo album - this time to show you the beauty of The Olgas. I had waited all my life to visit Uluru and it was everything I had hoped we did not climb it but chose to do the walk around the base, but I think I was even more blown away here. Photos cannot do these places justice and the Valley of the Winds walk is incredible. Keep an eye out for camels we spotted a couple as we were just leaving the place.... read more
