Greetings from Philadelphia
Hi, Catherine: I am sitting in my daughter Kate's house in Philadelphia. We just got back from fly fishing in Central Pennsylvania over the weekend. Tomorrow is the primary here. Big stuff!! It was great to get your blog and see Colonia and Montevideo finally. Sorry we couldn't be there with you! Seeing you in the Church potluck reminded me of some information I got from National Geographic. Did you know that Uruguay has the lowest church participation in either North or South American. Only 30%! they call their Christmas holiday "Summer Holiday" and Easter has another non-religious name. Is that your understanding? What are the views of Argentines towards Uruguaionos? Could you let us know? I'm lookng forward to seeing you in May! Bill

WOW!

Puerto Rican Cafe
Hola Catherine: The Puerto Rican Cafe that I told you about must be right down the street from your University classes. It is right around the corner from the Museo De Cuidad. It would be worth a cafe some afternoon even if they don't serve Puerto Rican cuisine! Its exciting to hear that you are participating to actively the curriculum of the University. I hope that you save the lesson on ser/estar so that you can share that when you return! We brought back a wonderful CD by a great singer, Leon Gieco. You might really like him. We do. Xavier called him the Argentine Bob Dylan. Ask some of your fellow students what they think of him.

thanks!
It's great to hear from both of you! Glad the knee is ok -- hugs, Catherine

The knee has healed!!!
Dear Catherine: Thanks for the pictures....the knee is fine! We are told that the farmer's strike is over and all is well. Is that true? I keep telling people about the beauty and energy of Buenos Aires. We want to come back. Soak up that beauty and energy! Bill

So Powerful
It's urgent that we--all over the world--remember and honor the victims of these atrocities! What the Madres are doing in Argentina proves the power of persistence, even among folks generally considered to be without power. Thanks for devoting an entry to this, Catherine.

Day to Day in BA
Catherine: Thanks for your discription of the day to day. Your description of the language school is intriguing! Sounds like a bargain. I will be interested to learn how it is turning out. See you in a few days!

Thanks for the cultural lesson!
Hola, Muchas gracias por la leccion cultural! Fue muy interesante leer como un hombre le pregunta a una mujer para bailar... en algunas partes de Mexico tambien asi lo hacen! It is hard and it feels very awkward and it is very embarrasing... I remember that! Thank God that I forgot about this. Remember, keep smiling and be willing to make mistakes... this will take you so long... Big hug, Rocio

Love your trip.
Hi, I just talked to Sue and told her about your trip and how much fun you are having inspite of the purse theft. She is going to Seattle the last week of June and was wondering if you will be there by June. Be safe and keep on having a great time. Love the pictures. Love you to. Ida Marie

I'm curious what happens when I respond to a comment -- does it go via email?

Hi Albert!
Great to hear from you. Believe it or not, I just received a new debit card from my bank via Fed Ex here in Buenos Aires. Nothing less than a miracle! The dancing here continues to be wonderful of course. Hope you're having lots of opportunities to dance! hugs, Catherine

What am I doing in Seattle?
Hola Catherine, Your blog and your pictures make me want to travel. Thank you for the comments. I went to France last month. Since Jan 1st they cannot smoke in public places and they have to drive VERY VERY carefully. Two big improvements at the same time. It was like visiting a foreign country. I thought that if you tell french people not to smoke they would do it on purpsose. Not at all. They improved a lot without me. I would not rely too much on the mail in BsAs. I sent them 2 cashier checks to buy tangos CDs. They never received them. After 1 year the bank gave me my money back. I was told that people go themselves and pay cash for their gas and electricity bills. Four years ago, some restaurants in BsAs refused my Visa/ B of A card. They wanted master card. Same thing for the tax at the airport before leaving. Everything is back to normal in Seattle. It rains! Alberto De Renton De Washington
