Puerto Madryn to Buenos Aires

I loved the beach at Puerto Madryn!
Mon Mar 3 Puerto Madryn
Went to the beach early. Check out time is 10:30 so didn’t have much time at the beach. Checked out and went to the bank so Dale could change some money, then to a locutorio to check email. Got back to the hotel around 1:00 to get our remise, and realized that all the taxis and remises were on strike so walked the 12 blocks to the bus station with our bags. Luckily we had enough time—our bus was at 1:45, but just barely. Took the bus - they played movie after movie, all Hollywood features dubbed in Spanish, so a bit hard to process. It was a long ride, we arrived in Buenos Aires at 6:30 am the next morning. In writing about the trip I found out that Rio Colorado is the northern boundary of Patagonia.

The scenery really changed as we went north. It was very barren in the south and became greener with more towns and population as we drove towards Buenos Aires.

Arrived in town early at Retiro. Dale suggested having a coffee at the bus station, but I couldn’t bring myself

The sign was corrected from the Spanish that is common in most of Latin America (e.g. "lo que eres") to Argentine Spanish (e.g. "lo que sos").
to do it after having been robbed in that exact place before. So we took at taxi to Balvanera and found an open confiteria were we had breakfast and worked on the computer for a couple hours till it was time to go to the Casa Maria Tango. We arrived about 8:30 and Luis Canaan was here giving a lesson and let us in.

We had breakfast and Cacho took us to the US embassy so I could start the process of getting a new passport. Luckily I had an expired US passport, thanks to Dale, which proves my citizenship and went a long way towards getting a new one. It cost $100 and will arrive in two weeks. So things are looking up.

Love your trip.
Hi, I just talked to Sue and told her about your trip and how much fun you are having inspite of the purse theft. She is going to Seattle the last week of June and was wondering if you will be there by June. Be safe and keep on having a great time. Love the pictures. Love you to. Ida Marie
