I started my dive by the first piling where the new nudi has been seen. I most turned every single piece of debris there was around with no luck. I saw eggs put no nudis. I found a very pretty crab with bright yellow eyes with heart shape. It was missing a claw and I saw the wrasses trying to eat it. I took a shot and covered it with a bottle to protect it. I moved on to the area where I saw the cute little white seahorse the day before but no signs of it. The huge hairy blenny probably ate it. These are now everywhere like an infestation and eating everything they find around the almost look oversized. Something must be creating an environment unbalance. I saw one eating a crab and the ... read more

The viz at the bridge finally improved. I felt like an inexperienced diver. My o-ring exploded, I forgot my mask in the car, I didn’t have a pocket to carry my new gadgets. What a mess. Every one was in the water and I was still trying to sort myself out. I headed west slowly just enjoying being in the water. I saw a clear shrimp with orange belly very pretty but I had communication problems with my camera. Then I moved on to the log were I saw a pretty big size cowry with plenty or hairy blennies around it. Then I kept going west where I saw Linda and Deb going crazy over a new nudi. After that I saw a pretty blenny on a sponge, a huge jawfish out of the hole, a ... read more

The visibility under the bridge has recently improved and a small group of us was highly motivated to go find out if there was some action. Steve, Lureen and I dove the East side while everyone else dove the West. I saw a good number of juvenile fish of every species in the sandy area off the beach. All the grass is gone due to the fresh water released from the lake. Just like Judy mention earlier: Baby Searobins, Baby trunkfish, baby seahorse, baby fish, baby, baby, baby… Nothing that I haven’t really seen before. But I just feel so good to interact with juveniles. They are so curious and get so nervous at the same time. Huffing and puffing faster than normal but they don’t go away like the adults. They stay trying to figure ... read more

I spent most of my dive inside the south side of the West Channel. Watching fish mate and feed. I saw a sergeant mayor that would not close its mouth but it would not give me a chance to take a good shoot. I saw lots of fish movement in this dive: a group of huge yellow jacks, gray snappers feeding of the bottom, spades mating and I made a puffer really uncomfortable with my presence. My coolest find was a crab with yellow and purple legs. Not really proud of my photos so I didn’t stamp them just made an entry on my dive photo blog. Dive 406 126 min 18 ft 84of... read more

I was hyped up about my super peaceful dive from the day before so I went to ck on the pike blennies hoping they were still all out. The gurnards seemed to be everywhere pairing up. I followed a couple of Flying gurnards searching and scratching the bottom for something edible. I went to the pike area and I only found one pike that seem to be hypnotized by my lens. I played with him and watch him for a while. I think it got to know my name. I was wearing only my 3mm with my new lavacore and I got cold. Viz wasn’t so great so I headed out. I run into Dianne who showed me a group of hydroids. I didn’t have to look close to see that it was full of pregnant ... read more

It feels like I can’t even remember my last dive at the bridge. It has been 36 days since. It's nice to be back. Most of the bridge regulars are gone to the Philippines or Indonesia so we were just 4 of our group left. Temperature was comfortable and current mild. I did a long slow cruise today. I started of the beach south of the log. Where I found a female pike fish blenny displaying nicely. She leaded me to at least 11 different males. One of them was bright green and had orange eyes. It was beautiful. I saw them looking at each other but she ignored it and moved on. It only lasted a second and I had my close-up lens on so I didn’t even try to take a shot. Then I ... read more

After the storm the viz at the bridge was highly affected. Looking for something to shoot I went looking for the “Blue” moon. Blue is just a random name given to the second full moon in the same month, event that is rare and would only happen again in 15 years. We were fortunate to witness it. When It first raised over the horizon it looked huge and orange to the eyes but it was covered by clouds. So I decided to play and just have fun with shutter speeds and the pier and used a model for one of the photographs to give the image a bit of perspective.... read more
