hello from very down under. as i was in melbourne and tassie is so close, my pohm melbourne based friend lauren, suggested i go here. and it was well worth it. small island. 500k pop. looks like ireland. v.lush and green. but very amazing in its landscape. spent 5 days there. weather was great in place where it can be all seasons in one day. (like ireland then!) on a 3 day tour. went to wineglass bay in the freycinet national park. beautiful stuff. stunning mountain scenes and beaches. next day went up mt.wellington that overlooks hobart and areas, with snow. and mt.field (NP) where theres alpine trees, temperate rainforests and snow all together! and last day port arthur where the worst convicts (pohm's) resided. not much remains but it was a big town really and ... read more

First of All - before I get going on the witty journal stuff, many apologies on the delay in the entries, have had a few technical hitches but have finally sorted it all out. So for most of you the last time I saw you was probably at many of my leaving events (bleeding a good excuse for a shindig as usual). A fabulous end to an era, with parties of different moods to match all the lovely colourful characters who helped to bid me a bon voyage. So I guess my adventure really begins when I was officially off on the adventure on my own - and for me, cheesy as this may sound - was in the departure lounge in Heathrow airport. I've just had a little glance at my first entry from my ... read more

ok and hello ive been in OZ for under two weeks, and sorry i aint kept you in da loop anyway from the start. landed perth airport at midnight, and to my surprise it was 6 degrees outside. big difference from japan (want a little heat) slept in arrivals lounge then got a bus to perth hostel. (all the bus drivers also appear to be from or have lived in england) this hostel 12:01 backpackers was cool and a welcome change from japanese internet cafes or hostels that kicked you out at 10am. this meant i could relax. first three days from aug 15th onwards, i went out and had a squint around perth (which aint that big but subarbs are) weather has been bad for what id expect in OZ. from 15th til now its ... read more

hello well first off nara was great wasnt there long, but its well worth going to, at least to go the temple and see the 16m high buddha. you can also try and climb/slide thru the the lucky pillar, i did try but as soon as my skinny ribs felt the inclosed space i flipped. (the same feeling as when i watch that dude in the pipe in 'aliens') anyway, havent done any other excursions. mole has now gone to hawaii, so im just bumming around til my flight, and catching mark a bit. its quite funny, mole spent 2 weeks winding me up that hes gonna sit on a beach in the sun and do nowt else, and i read that hawaii could be hit by a tropical storm. hope怀he'l be cool but he may ... read more

hi well im back in osaka and feeling the heat again did a few more cool things in kyoto. staying in the kawaramachi area or downtown kyoto, busy area. used the buses alot, the best way to get around. imperial palace tour was good , but nijo-jo castle is a better place to visit. it was the palace before the emperor(ess) moved to the imperial fulltime (now in tokyos imperial palace. see i am learning stuff too.) tried to go to the international manga museum but it was closed for a national holiday apparently. gion was a great place too. at 6pm or so many geishas come out to work.....and when they did there was 20 or so people, cameras ready to flash-photo them like a pack of filthy paparazzi. i just a quiet shot of ... read more

well good day to you all. i and my friend richard (mole), have been in tokyo since wed 25th morning and it has most definately been eventful. firstly mole and i took separate planes from heathrow. so i had to wait for his flight to come in. the waiting got longer as customs wouldnt let him thru cos he didnt know where we were staying or anything cos i had booked it. poor fellow. in the end he lied and got thru safely. meanwhile i was busy chatting with a little band called Kings of Leon who had come in on moles flight and were waiting for they drummer who had also been stopped cos sniffer dogs smelt cannabis on him. but everything work out and we stepped into the tokyo daylight. and f**k me was ... read more
