Change of Plans Well, the morning didn't start well with a cancelled flight to DFW. Checking the options we decided to try and still head out but leave going through JFK airport in NY. Since the flight didn't leave until 5 pm we headed back out and I went to go visit the coat at the store I had left behind the day before. This time it came with me :) CDG Protests There were protests in the airport again and this time I got to see them go by. We were already back in the terminal but you could look down on the people marching in the main areas. They were loud and the police were out in full force. Can I Say I Went to Newfoundland? I think so We did get on the ... read more

Tour by Car We actually ended up going over the A's distant cousin's house for a late Parisian dinner. We took the metro over to pick up his car in the underground wonder parking lot next to the Champs-Elysees. There were some nice cars in that parking lot. The underground world of Paris is amazing can I say, the metro, these parking lots. Vincent and his wife gave us a car tour of Paris. I would NOT want to drive in that city. Those scooters just weave in and out in front of you. In fact Vincent said he had clipped one the other week! We stopped and got another wonderful view of the Eiffel Tower. I expect that one to make the Christmas card for sure. We aslo went through the tunnel that Princess Diana ... read more

Sick Room A was not feeling well again today so I ventured out on my own. To do what you ask? Shop of course! We are in a great little area around Gare St. Lazare that has tons of shopping. There is one called Primtemps that has the craziest shop windows with moving puppets that attract everyone. So I did mangage to pick up a few things here and there today. If you are lucky and left me a comment, you might just get something! Phatom of the Opera I walked all the way down to the grand Opera house. It was amazing. Unfortunately, no pictures today, I didn't cart the camera with me. I am not a big opera fan but I would love to go see one in there. Les familes We were supposed ... read more

Basilique du Sacré-Cœur Today we got a workout. It started getting of the metro at Abssess in Monmartre near the Sacré-Cœur. That metro must be the deepest one of all bc I counted 100 steps to get out. It was neverending. Once up and out we wandered the shops on our way to the basilique. I like this neighborhood and found a few goodies to take home. I wanted to find the place I got my leather Eiffel tower keychain last time I was here but that was like looking for a needle in a haystack. The Sacré-Cœur is at the top of Monmartre...and that is a nice little trek up. There are still guys at the bottom trying to get you to do some scam, same ones from 2006? We made ... read more

Out of the Metro Area We headed out to Versailles today. It is out of the usual metro ticket line so we had to ask for some help. Getting rejected in those turnstyles with about 20 impatient French behind you is not pleasant. This train is a double decker, maybe bc it heads out to the suburbs and has to cart all the poor Parisians to work all the time. That is where I would be if I lived here. The Vast Fortune of the French Royals Versailles is enormous. And elaborate. And gilded in gold and marble...everywhere. Originally built by Louis XIV it housed a couple of generations of King Louis ending with Louis XVI and his wife Marie-Antoinette, which we all know didn't end well. The little guide that talks to you was pretty ... read more

Jetlagged Well we were up at 3 am but forced ourselves to stay in bed. I figured it would be 6 and we would be up and ready to hit the streets. At 10 we finally made it down to breakfast. Who would've thought. Of course now I am wide awake again and it's like 1:30 am. Anyways, I forgot how much I love le petit dejuener in Europe. All that bread. I almost paid dad a tribute and took a roll to go but I didn't have any pockets. The Louvre Headed to the Louvre by way of the Royal Palace. You can't actully go into the palace since it belongs to the state and has workers inside or something so we viewed the courtyard and gardens. Not much of a garden in wintertime. Then, ... read more

Jaunt to the Eiffel Tower We decided to head out for a bite to eat and ended up at the Eiffel Tower. Can I say that it is COLD. You will probably hear that a few more times before the vacation ends. I literally couldn't feel my fingers and toes half the time we were out. Am I at Christmaskindle? I thought of Manda and our Chicago trip when there was this village type walk through marked "Christmas Village" across from the Eiffel Tower. We decided to take a look and like Chicago I was lured by the candy, hello coke bottles and new banana gummi, didn't buy anything, and ate a sausage of some type. I tried the vin chaud and it was awful. I didn't like that at all, hot wine with spices of ... read more

Oh the Places to Choose...that had seats available that is Well, since we didn't make the Santiago flight and it didn't look good to get out soon for it either we rolled the dice and tried for Paris. And we made it! The flight was long but I only managed to get in 1.5 movies. I wish I had started with Waiting for Superman instead of Paranormal Activity 2, but you know I am a sucker for horror movies. I didn't really like this one though. Instead of pull out tvs they now have Samsung tablets to watch so that was cool. Trying to get a Hotel We finally found wifi at...you guessed it McDonalds! I love that place. We sampled the fries and these "new fries" which were like thick cut potatoes, dont mess with ... read more

at least here comes my luggage. It was unfortunate that we didn't make it onto the flight last night, such is the chance with standby, but we think my luggage might be having a great time in sunny Santiago. I hope it makes it back. When asked what 3 things I had in there all I could think of was each pair of shoes I had in there. The guy was like no, different things please. Ah, no, I want my shoes back! So we will see where we try to go...stay tuned. Although all my "warm" clothes were in my bags...... read more

Feliz Ano Nuevo 2011 I guess she wasn't as crazed as I thought since we made it on the Miami flight and spent the New Year with champagne in business class once again, on our way back to the good old USA. Yay! Adios, Buenos Aires. It was fun!! Good to be back though. Note: This is for my Dad who said I didn't really finish out this trip saying we got on the flight and made it home. But I did say that in the previous entry, he thinks people only read the snippets available. ... read more
