The Louvre
Entrance to the Louvre Jetlagged Well we were up at 3 am but forced ourselves to stay in bed. I figured it would be 6 and we would be up and ready to hit the streets. At 10 we finally made it down to breakfast. Who would've thought. Of course now I am wide awake again and it's like 1:30 am. Anyways, I forgot how much I love
le petit dejuener in Europe. All that bread. I almost paid dad a tribute and took a roll to go but I didn't have any pockets.
The Louvre Headed to the Louvre by way of the Royal Palace. You can't actully go into the palace since it belongs to the state and has workers inside or something so we viewed the courtyard and gardens. Not much of a garden in wintertime. Then, onto the Louvre. Unlike last time I was here I didn't put my feet in the water in the courtyard, way too cold. In fact, this time they had signs that looked like a man walking on water with an x on it. Hmm...I wonder if those are new? We did go inside this time and wandered around to the required Mona
19 years later
I have a picture like this from my HS trip to France. 19 yrs later I am back! Lisa, Winged Fury, and Venus de Milo. Spot them on next years Christmas card.
Avenue des Champs-Élysées After exploring the Louvre for a while we headed out and through the gardens. There was a little boy playing in the fountain with these boats they push around with sticks, just like last time I walked through. I guess if its a good time, kids will play. I did get a nutella crepe at the Place de Concord and it was good. My hand froze while eating it but it was worth it. We continued all the way up the Champs-Élysées to the L'Arc de Triomphe. There was a bunch of stalls again like in the Christmas village, and again I bought nothing. How sad. Nothing caught my eye though, and like Manda said, if I have been there before, no need for presents. Keep that in mind people. 😊
Go Irish? Next up Notre Dame. Big Christmas tree in front of Notre Dame, A is getting pretty good at figuring out my Christmas card shots. We went inside and mass was actually going on. Funny how they still let people in to visit. The place is pretty
Tulleries fountain
Boy with his boats cool though. It is celebrating its 850th anniversary in 2013.
Trashcan shopping cart Went into a grocery store and they had these awesome carts you pulled along the ground. Love it!
Dinner We went out to Hippopotmus for dinner. Probably not the best of names to have
Hippo above the seats in some areas but whatever. I got some 5 meat skewer with pomme frites and A got a steak. Prob not the best choice but we struggled with ordering. Just like before, my french escapes me everytime. Dessert was good though. I am loving these crepes.
Et Voila! After sending Manda a youtube video just the other day, not at work of course, I found the real deal! I was so excited. I told A we had to go there to order my #1 tomorrow. I wonder if you order by number or have to put it all together. Stay tuned to find out.
