Last Day Our plane didn't leave until 3:35 pm so we decided we had time to hit the beach one last time. Our quest to see the turtles was at an all time high so we were going to give it another shot. I went in first. Slowly made my way around the reef and headed towards where there were a bunch of people congregating. I have learned people congregate when they see things and tell each other so it's good idea to keep one eye and ear up every once in a while to see what's happening. Now, as I made my way round I tend to look down at things and every so often look out into the vast blue. I hate to do it for fear of what I might see coming towards ... read more

Lazy Sunday Much like our Sundays at home, we didn't do much and just hung out at the beach enjoying the pretty waters. A and I both tried in desperation to see a turtle in the coral gardens before we had to leave the following day. The coral gardens is actually known as Bight Reef in Princess Alexandra State Park. Neither of us was successful snorkeling that morning. But Mr B was having the time of his life. He still was giving out "hamburgers" but now I was also getting "apple cheese." I don't know what apple cheese is but it sounded good to him I guess. He is also going to turn into a french fry, which seems to be his diet of late. Today he did ask to go eat, which is a first ... read more

Preparing for another fit We decided to spend half the day on a reef snorkeling/conch trip. They pick you up in front of the hotel on a boat then get everyone fitted for fins at their main outlet and take off into the gorgeous waters. We geared Mr B up telling him we were getting on a boat and what fun it would be and he seemed to be on board. Until we actually had to get on board. As I braced myself for another meltdown it started up as NO BOAT, WATER! This boy and his water. It was not nearly as bad as the plane debacle but it was unpleasant for a few minutes. After picking up others we headed out to the coral reef. It is sooooo pretty on the water, it really ... read more

Early Start Mr B was up and ready to go "water, please" at 7 am. We convinced him to wait a little while longer although I think we hit the beach before 9. Started cloudy but still quite warm. The hotel does have very nice umbrellas and seats to sit around and so we got the ones closest to the water. I think Mr B took 50 million trips back and forth picking up sand then dumping it in the water then doing it all over again. He seems to enjoy it. Uh-Oh A decided to go snorkeling first on the reef. He gets all his stuff ready and is all excited to try his new prescription mask. Now as he heads in I think to myself, surely he knows that those buoys are set up ... read more

Trying to get away

NO PLANE, OFF (aka fit #1) We started our trip way too early at 4:30 AM only to have Mr B decide he was less than thrilled to get on a plane. What seemed to be going well suddenly went south as soon as we walked through the plane door. It was bad. We were "those" people. And it lasted a good 25 minutes of screaming "no plane, off" and trying to weasel his way out into the aisle. Fun times. Strangely when the plane revved to take off he was quiet and calmed down. Thank god. Then he fell asleep for the rest of the flight. Flight 2 went much better screaming wise but by then he was awake and didn't want to sit still. The previous flight attendants were pretty lax on the seatbelt, ... read more

I don't wanna go back in

Last Day Today was our last full day, so that means more beach. We got to see a starfish close by the shore. How cool is that?! Both A and I took turns snorkeling. I told B one time there is no way daddy is coming back. He went so far out, out by the SCUBA divers! I didn't go near that far out but still saw some cool fishies. I realize though, still, I am scared if I can see the fish coming for towards me. Ben made friends, he's cool like that. I am, of course, 50 shades darker. B browned up nicely, too. He's got a farmers tan going. I think he enjoyed himself. He's a beach and water person, just like his mama. Now we'll have to make sure he's a European ... read more

It's a HOT one Started at the beach this morning and stayed for a while. We walked down the beach to the Thirsty Turtle for lunch. The view was delightful but wow is it hot. I had chicken tenders and A had a fish sandwich and B had a hot dog. I guess all that playing on the beach makes him hungry because he ate the whole thing with fries! It is very hot I have to say, the Mexican sweat was abundant today starting at the restaurant. Water Taxi After nap time (for Mr. B, although A joined him) we took a water taxi ($3 pp, if you have 3 or more people, Mr. B was free) to West End to look around and get a couple groceries. Let me tell you about the grocery ... read more

International Buffet Breakfast, or the "International Buffet" as the sign said, was in the new building they were working on when we were here last. It's a nice little set up with a huge outdoor patio. We opted to sit inside though. Mr. B loved the fruit. The pineapple was especially delish. Not so sure what made the buffet "international" though. Banana Donuts! Mr. B loves the beach so we headed back out there after breakfast. A went out snorkeling out on the reef and got some fish and coral shots. B and I made a friend by sharing our toys. A was in charge of putting on B's hat and finally I noticed it was on backwards. No wonder he couldn't see half the time. Even when it is on correctly though it still does ... read more

We're Back! And We Brought a Guest! We loved Roatán enough to come back, and bring Mr. B! He is a beach person for sure, just like his mama. The day got off to a late start as usual and as I was in line for McDonald's they were already beginning to board our plane. We were lucky enough that there enough open seats that they let us take the car seat on for Mr. B. Flight was good and we got a 30 min nap in the car seat out of B. Better than nothing. Mexican Sweat is Back Also As soon as I stepped out of the plane I knew it was going to be a hot one. And as per the norm it's island time as soon as you land. We were pulled ... read more

Just Like Home We wandered down the street to go look at the shops, unfortunately there were no good shops and nothing opened before 10 anyway, except for Cost U Less. A felt right at home, it was pretty much a Costco wannabe. He even tried to get me to let him buy a rotisserie chicken for lunch. Beach Time We headed to the beach one last time before out scheduled departure pickup, which I might add was 3 hrs before departure time and about 2 hr 45 min too early to get there. Those island airports take 5 min to get through to a holding pen of one room and a walk to the plane. The worst thing about them is the 3 bathroom stalls they have but that is another story. So, we hung ... read more
