Nov 15 Went into Robina to visit my brothers daughter-in-law and her two boys. Had a great, great visit with them. Gave the boys T-Shirts from the Pass and the Canadian flag we have been displaying all across Australia. Went out to a Thai restaurant for dinner. Really a wonderful time with family that hasn’t had much contact with our family. That will certainly change as I intend to keep in touch. Nov 16 Burleigh Heads to Caloundra Nice, easy drive. We have a fondness for Caloundra from our first visit in 1996. Bulcock beach, specifically with its nice current that allowed us to float with the tide, run back and float again. Unfortunately we didn’t go on Sunday, which was a beautiful day until dinner time. Then the first of the big storms hit. We ... read more

Nov 10 Sydney to Cessnock Travel day. Very low key. Called a couple of people to make visiting arrangements. We are in the Hunter Valley. Wineries!!! Dominos pizza for supper. $11.00 for a large. Nice!! Nov 11 Hunter Valley Visited a few wineries today. McWilliams. Really nice tour of the winery McGuigan. Good wine and we had a pretty good cheese tray for lunch. Piggs Peake. Nice wines (don’t think we found any bad ones). We were the only ones there, so the part owner took us in back for some special tastings. Some of the reds that won’t be on the market till June of next year. At $90.00 per bottle. Sure would be nice to afford this wine. Absolutely fantastic. Two wines actually. We then went to a place where we could taste wines ... read more

Nov 5 Melbourne to Echuca Very, very dry all over. Walked along the Murray, in Echuca, into the CBD. Checked out the information centre about paddlewheel boat tours. Went to the Echuca Workers club for a couple of beers. We are such interesting folks!!! Free wireless in the Echuca Caravan Park. 2 hours a day. But we were online and got talking to some folks and our time ran out. It was refreshed again the next day. What a novel idea. Free wireless!! Nov 6 Echuca Did a paddlewheel steamer boat ride. On the Emmy Lou. Not a restored riverboat, but one built for the tourist trade. We had an hour and a half trip, down stream for half of it then back to the dock. We were just about to dock when we were told ... read more

Nov 1 OK I deleted the previous entry and added this one. Just a continuation and with picture. Robe to Peterborough Certainly lovely country side. Rolling hills. Lush green. And a lot of planted trees. They sure grow fast here. Not like The Pass or Grande Cache. Lots of sheep and cattle. Lots of grain and other crops we couldn’t identify. Into the state of Victoria. Speed limit 100kph. Starting our Great Ocean Road adventure. Our first adventure was spotting an echidna by the roadside. Got some great photos of it. Our first stop was at Boat Bay in the Bay of islands. The signage indicates a boat launch, but there is a path out to the point where you can get a great first view of the Great Ocean Road. However, about 150m down the ... read more

Oct 26 Ceduna to Elliston Farmland on one side and the ocean on the other. Amazing what they grow in the sand. Large grain silos at Streaky Bay. Nice scenic little town. The scenic road from Streaky Bay to Seale Bay/Point Labatt was not sealed all the way, gravel was rough so we turned back. Stayed at Waterloo Bay Caravan Park in Elliston. Walked the town, which was very quiet and the businesses quite spread out. Drove a 12km scenic drive loop with Sculptures along the way. Really very nice, beautiful scenery of the ocean, cliffs and beaches. Ford still makes a Falcon here!! Oct 27 Elliston to Wallaroo The 91km from Elliston to Lock was a very quiet drive. 2 other vehicles, going the opposite direction. There must be some combining being done because we ... read more
