and Rugged Maniacs, Battlefrogs and people who bounce along on Insane Inflatable runs. It is fair to say that 2015 was the year of the mud runs for us. We aren't claiming to be the elite of the elite, or even giving anybody a run for their money but we do enjoy paying to torture ourselves. And the torture has been felt around the east coast. We have managed to do Spartan's in three different states that's kind of impressive right? Below are a list of the different races we have ran. They haven't all been torture, but at least half have sent us home questioning our sanity. Insane Inflatable - Brick NJ: We will start with the easiest and most enjoyable one. I mean who doesn't love some insane inflatables especially when your folks join ... read more

When my husband came home on Thursday and said we're headed on out of New Jersey the next day I was all for it. During his ridiculously long day at work, he had managed to find us a weekend getaway and jam pack it full of fun stuff. Race, Chili Cook off, Painting, Wine, and a Helicopter Ride, I pretty much feel like saying out day was jam packed is an understatement! Both of us managed to get out of work early and we headed off. Where were we going you ask? Lake George! I had never really researched Lake George at all before, all I knew was that it was a party place in summer time but what was is like in the winter? We were about to find out. The easy 3 hour drive ... read more

I must say that on my bucket list of places to go, New Orleans has always been on the top of it. And when I say New Orleans I don't mean Bourbon Street or Mardi Gras, I mean I want to go there and experience the culture. I feel like you can't stay within the U.S. of A and get such a different culture than little old Jersey than to go on down to the south. I wanted to go to a place where people spoke English that I couldn't understand, ate gator off a stick, practiced Voodoo and Catholicism all in the same breath and drank Bloody Mary's morning, noon, and night. This quest to experience a culture far different than Jersey without even leaving the states was made possible by none other than Derik. ... read more

My very first genuine road trip! Out to Kentucky to spend the 4th with family and then off we went. We hit up Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio and then we headed on down to the Manmouth Caves after spending the afternoon in Lousiville. From there we continued on over to Nashville, Tennessee for some PBRs and country music. The journey to Savannah had us stopping in Swainsboro at the cutest little Bed and Breakfast and some bad Mexican food before making our way to the history filled, ghost ridden town of Savannah. Then it was time to start getting ourselves back home. Not without a pitstop in Charlotte and Richmond however! Oh and why not make our way to Quantico for a short stop on base. Overall I believe we hit up eight states all together ... read more

The Manasquan Reservoir has been my home away from home as long as I've been in Jersey. I mean I've been working there for far to long/not long enough! Every year there is a race held in the beginning of fall and every year I am grateful that I'm not working that day due to the large crowds. This year is different though, this year I am a runner! The idea of running five miles in the past would have been dreadful, a cruel form of torture, but this year all I can think about is that the weekend is long run time so should I do two laps? Despite working there and being a runner I never actually run at the reservoir, I've done it perhaps twice and what I do know is that one ... read more

Who doesn't love Mexican food? I mean honestly can anyone sit down at a Mexican restaurant and just stare at the tortilla chips they place in front of you with salsa of various quality. It really doesn't matter the quality because we all can't seem to pry ourselves away from the delicious goodness. If the tortilla chips aren't grand enough, extensive menus filled with tortillas, enchiladas, burritos, and mountainous piles of nachos there is something delicious and new to try at each and every restaurant. While in Thailand, my all time favorite restaurant/ girls night always found my friends at Coyotes in Bangkok for the two hours of ladies night. Do you know what ladies night entails at Coyotes? Well it brings with it us ordering up nachos and getting TWO hours worth of free margaritas. ... read more

I suppose it is a bold claim to state that the Peruvian food that I have indulged upon at two separate restaurants was perfect having never been to Peru myself, but I can claim that i found the food to be absolutely stupendous. I had always wanted to go to Peru, it is on the top of my list and I very nearly made it there back in uni but when that trip fell apart the farthest I ever made it down south was Costa Rica. This is by no means a complaint, Costa Rica is AMAZING as is its food. Now the question is, is Costa Rican food anything like Peruvian? The thing is, when I was in Costa Rica I was just a budding foodie, I had thrown away my vegetarian ways on a ... read more

Okay I know the title is a rip off of a Bravo T.V. show but hey mimicry is a form of flattery right? Now where as the show traveled from country to country I don't quite have that luxury so instead I'm sticking around here in New Jersey (or the east coast, or America, or the world who knows?) and finding all the whole in the wall restaurants to feed my belly. The show had it easy, I mean when your in a country all the food is authentic but try and find a true AUTHENTIC restaurant ain't a walk in the park. I mean in Bangkok the authentic Mexican restaurant I use to hit up included nachos with cheese sauce, so much for authentic. With recommendations from others, the help of google and sheer determination ... read more

Now I just so happen to work at a pretty kick ass job. Grant it it provides no benefits, an unreliable schedule and not the greatest of pay but does any of that matter when you love it? I think not. This summer I've worked quite a bit with different camp groups and this has provided me with the opportunity to check out a bit of Jersey I've never seen before. Not only that I am now a very skilled archer... as long as the target is no more than 20 feet away. Can we begin with the good old Manasquan Reservoir. The Reservoir is fabulous, sure I might be a bit bias but serious where else can you hop on a pontoon boat and check out local wildlife like BALD EAGLES?!? Yes I know your ... read more
