Stan and Prudy Scott

My wife and I are retired and living in Tucson, AZ. We both love to travel. In fact, we sold our home in Illinois in 2006 and bought a motorhome to travel full-time. We did this for four and a half years. It was a great experience that we would recommend to anyone who enjoys traveling. Now our favorite method of travel is on our CanAm Touring motorcycle (Trike) which we do at every opportunity. We have been to all lower 48 states and 5 provinces in Canada on our motorcycles. We no longer have our motorhome, instead we have a travel trailer that we use mainly for short camping trips. We also like to travel internationally and are planning several trips in the future.

My wife (Prudy) and I joined with my brother (John) and his wife (Fran) on a trip to Lake Tahoe earlier this month. Normally we would take our motorcycles on a trip like this but weather is always a factor this time of year around Lake Tahoe so we traveled in John's 4-door F-150 pickup. Of course, as it turned out we could have taken the motorcycles because the weather was great except for one morning when it rained for a couple of hours. None of us had ever been to Lake Tahoe so we were excited about the trip. John and Fran are members of Diamond Resorts, Int'l and we went as guests. Our accommodations were outstanding at the Lake Tahoe Recreational Resort. We each had a 1-bedroom suite with full kitchen, dining area, living ... read more

Arrived home at 4 PM this afternoon. We traveled 3775 miles...and get this...total cost for gasoline was only $284.11!! Of course, it helped that the average price we paid for gas was around $2.85 a gallon. We rented a Hyundai Elantra that averaged 45 mpg for the trip. It was actually about $100.00 cheaper to rent the car and pay for the gas than it would have been to take our pickup and pay for the gas. Not to mention no wear and tear on the pickup and no cost for an oil change afterward. We had a good time visiting with all of our friends and relatives and hope to see all of them again our next trip. We are going camping for three days at Lake Patagonia on the 31st October and we're really ... read more

First off, let me make a correction to last nights post. Peyton now has 509 touchdown passes not 510. I felt that it was important to mention. As usual, we got off to a later start than we had planned but still made it to Santa Rosa, NM before 3:00 PM. We are staying in the same Holiday Inn Express hotel and the same room that we stayed in on the trip out. We have the same TV that we had to call the desk attendant to reprogram last time (and this time). I'm sitting in the same telescoping desk chair that slowly lowers so that I'm typing with my hands at about eye level........(Hold on a sec while I raise my chair)...........that's better... and Prudy has to put a wash cloth down the drain hole ... read more

We said our goodbyes to dad this afternoon and are going to "try" to get an early start in the morning. Since we are gaining one hour between here and Santa Rosa, NM we have a little leeway if we oversleep. Our stay here at the Hampton Inn was very nice. The staff was friendly, the whole place was as clean as a whistle and the food was good. However, we still prefer the Holiday Inn Express...the beds are more comfortable and the pillows are great. One of the problems here was the outside noise if you are in a room in the front of the building. The Santa Fe Cattle Company restaurant is directly across the street, which is handy, but they have a lot of traffic. They also serve drinks and I think there ... read more

The sun came up and there it was, a nice Oklahoma sunrise. We arrived in Ada yesterday afternoon around 3 PM and checked into the brand new Hampton Inn. We normally stay at the Holiday Inn Express across the street but thought we would try something new. It is a very nice looking hotel and is set up differently than most hotels. It has a huge breakfast dining room and the decor is retro. The food they serve is pretty much the same as you would get at any other hotel. I mean, how many ways can you do breakfast? Brother John, and his wife Fran, stopped by dad's place and brought him over to the hotel for breakfast. Dad looked great and was full of energy for someone 94 years old. He ate everything on ... read more
