The sun came up and there it was, a nice Oklahoma sunrise.
We arrived in Ada yesterday afternoon around 3 PM and checked into the brand new Hampton Inn. We normally stay at the Holiday Inn Express across the street but thought we would try something new. It is a very nice looking hotel and is set up differently than most hotels. It has a huge breakfast dining room and the decor is retro. The food they serve is pretty much the same as you would get at any other hotel. I mean, how many ways can you do breakfast?
Brother John, and his wife Fran, stopped by dad's place and brought him over to the hotel for breakfast. Dad looked great and was full of energy for someone 94 years old. He ate everything on his plate and then some.
My son Craig and his wife Katy came down this morning from Tulsa and we had a nice visit. We went out to eat (again) at Chili's. It wasn't all that good so we wasted two Chili's Gift Cards. After lunch Prudy and Katy went back to the hotel. Craig, dad and I went to Braum's for
ice cream 'cause dad has to have his sweets after a meal. Afterwards, we took a ride through the countryside to get him some fresh air then dropped him back at his room for his afternoon nap and came back to the hotel to visit some more. Since our last visit to Ada they have named "Main Street" in honor of Blake Shelton, our one and only claim to fame...well, that's not totally true...we did have a mass hanging of suspected murderers (I think) that made national news.
http://thislandpress.com/07/20/2012/four-men-hanging/ Not a whole lot goes on in Ada except for hangings so we didn't do a whole lot. We watched a little bit of the OU/Kansas State football game and OU did what it does best, lose early in the season so they will not have to be faced with any National Title stress later on in the season.
Prudy went to Long John Silver's for dinner tonight by herself...I'm exercising restraint. I'm really getting burned out...can't wait to get back home to some healthy meals.
I certainly hope Prudy can get a good nights sleep tonight. She "claims" that I snored all night last night and was
about ready to go ask for another room. But since I
don't snore she must have been having a bad dream. She "claims" that I snore when we are at home also. She tried to record my snoring one night to prove it to me but "says" that the recorder must not have worked 'cause there was nothing on it the next morning. I know why.
Tomorrow is our last day here and only a thousand one hundred miles left to go before we can get back to our normal lives.
