Hello from the Nations Capital still. On friday we caught the metro (subway) down to the Pentagon, Changed lines to get there, thought we were pretty good teaching the kids how to read the underground map and actually getting on the right train going the right direction. There's not much to look at from the outside and of course your'e not allowed on the inside. We did walk around to the memorial, for the people who died from the 9/11 terrorist attack, that flew the plane into the Pentagon. Its quite a cool memorial. 153 people died, 59 were on the plane. We had to use the 'bathroom' while we were there, so there's a portacom toilet there. Typical government department.I opened the door to be met by nice cool air conditioned air coming out. Once ... read more

Hello from Washington DC, Its been a little while since weve been on the net. When we left Atlanta, we headed for my brother, Evan's house. I bought the kids a portable DVD player and some $5 DVD's and that kept them reasonably quiet for most of the trip. Only thing is they miss things along the way. Not that they really care !! Evan lives down quite a steep driveway, got down there ok, then had to manouvre the rolling turd around down by his house. Got it in the end, parked on his lawn and hooked up. Got to Evan's about 2pm , stinking hot. So we went out in his boat again. We all went for a kneeboard, Josh had a ski. Blew up the biscuit and went on that too. Came home ... read more

Thursday , We got up a bit late after the awesome laser show. Drove to a train station ( Marta) not far from here. Caught that into the middle of Atlanta. We always seem to attract real winners. This time his name was Dexter, a black guy. Who told us what stop to get off , then yaked all the way into town , telling us about his life history. He is doing time in jail , 2 days a week for 6 months. His "Woman" has got 1 of his children , his "Girl" has got 3 of his kids !! Got in with the wrong crowd selling drugs , I think. Anyway, he walked us thru the CNN building and over to the Coca Cola building as he had nothing better to do today. ... read more

What a place. After a bit of a late start, we seem to have a few of those. We finally got out to Tybee island. Its about 15 miles west of Savannah, Its all marsh land to get out there, with rivers winding there way inland. Alot of the shrimp boats come up these rivers. People had their own docks , some with 200m or more of above ground wooden footpaths, winding over the long grassed swamp. Tybee island is just like Foxton Beach !!, yeh right . We think it was quite touristy but from an American point of view, I'm sure it is classed as a small ,quaint, little beach town. So we finally got to ride our bikes, In the sweltering heat! Stopped at a gas station to buy some water, said bugger ... read more

Hi Guys It's Tori!!! On Monday morning we took our new bikes out to Tybee Island Beach. We went for a bike ride along the streets, then we went for a swim in the sea. About 20 metres away from where we were swimming there was a cone barrier, on the other side was Miley Cyrus and extras, they were filming a scene for a movie coming out sometime next year called 'The Last Song'. Where we were swimming in the sea there were loads of starfish, It was amazing! This guy gave mum and I one, because we were interested. Dad and Josh were really scared of them! Those big Woosies. Lol. On Tuesday we got up early and went to the Civil Rights Museum, it's all about the segregation between the black and white ... read more

Hello from Savannah, Georgia. We finally got this show on the road !! Last week went by pretty quick, We got all organised to go and watch the shuttle take off and once again we woke up in the middle ofthe night to find they had cancelled it again until July sometime.Bugger !! Only thing was I had booked our Dodge in at Carmax in Orlando to get the key fixed on it under warranty at 8.30am, thought we would do it after watching the launch. so had to get up again about 6.30am to get up and away to be in Orlando by 8.30am. We had to buy a brake box for the Durango , they use them for towing over here. The trailer has brakes on it that get turned on by the truck, ... read more

Thursday we looked at more trailers, then on friday we drove into Orlando to meet Tom who had a 2004 31ft Dutchman travel trailer for sale. It had everything we wanted, 4 bunks, 1 slide that the couch and table are in.plenty of storage space and Tom had also built an extra cupboard where there was some space for pots and shelves for tin foods etc. It also came with the anti-sway bars hitch , that stops the trailer from waving around as much when we drive along. So after a short negotiation, he proceeded to show us all how it works and what we needed to know. We hooked her on and off we went. Found a space for it at Mum and Dads.Chris arrived up from West Palm Beach on friday night. We had ... read more

On Sunday, Evan finally got the boat going. He had been to a different boat shop about an hour away from his place. To get some parts he needed, They also had knee boards on special , so he bought one of those too. Sure enough it went good as gold, I took Evan for a ski, then we tried out the kneeboard.awesome. Josh and I had a ski , then Evan blew up the ski biscuit thing. Everyone had a bit of fun on that, as its so stable to lie on. We ran out of gas so we pulled into one of the many marina's along the lake. We just pulled into a wharf, this guy asked do you want some gas, he fills it up, we went and got some ice creams from the ... read more

Well after a couple of days looking around . We took a Lincoln Navigator for a drive, nice but a bit rough, looked at a Ford Expedition but the 3rd seat was quite small and raised at the back, a Chevy suburban, it was really long . Then we found a Dodge Durango, 2004, 48,000 miles where most of them were up over 100,000 miles. 5.7L hemi V8, oh oh oh!! with a 9,000Lb tow hitch and tow package. which means its got a transmission cooler and a big tow bar. Its like new inside it, So we bought it. Kylie and the kids did a bit a shopping the other day, bought some togs and shirts and stuff. Both the kids bought new life jackets as Evan said you need them to go out on ... read more
