Stone Mountain carving
Thursday , We got up a bit late after the awesome laser show. Drove to a train station ( Marta) not far from here. Caught that into the middle of Atlanta. We always seem to attract real winners. This time his name was Dexter, a black guy. Who told us what stop to get off , then yaked all the way into town , telling us about his life history. He is doing time in jail , 2 days a week for 6 months. His "Woman" has got 1 of his children , his "Girl" has got 3 of his kids !! Got in with the wrong crowd selling drugs , I think. Anyway, he walked us thru the CNN building and over to the Coca Cola building as he had nothing better to do today. Can you see it coming yet, Yes Paul is there any chance of giving me just a couple of dollars to help me along. So I did.
So we lined up in the sweltering heat, they had fans going onto the line to keep everyone a little bit cooler. Once inside we got the full brunt of the best marketing company in the world has

The 3 brave ones on the high wire
to offer. From the 2.5 million dollar painting with some guy with a coke in his hand to the 4D movie. Coke products from all around the world, photos with the Coke bear.A small bottling plant made just to show you how they do it in the big factories. Then lets give everyone a cup and let them loose in a room that has drink fountains of all the Coke brands ever made, FREE !!!!!!
The noise of hyped up kids and adults on the biggest sugar rush you have ever seen, there was no one to stop you , you could drink as much as you could. Of course thats exactly what Tori tried to do. Josh held himself back a bit, but hey what do you expect. Now that they've got your eyes popping out of your head, lets give you a free authentic glass bottle of Coke classic and send you into the Coke shop. Remember I paid $50 bucks to get into the building in the 1st place, and there were hundreds of people in there at any one time. Who needs to sell a drink product !!!???
Went over to the CNN building where all

the News is made and sent around the world. Had lunch in there at the food court. Tori and I had Chinesse and Taco bell. Apart from a lovely salad !!!! that was the best we could find. Walked around for awhile in a dodgy looking black area of town, Went to go to Turners field, the baseball stadium and another friendly black lady started helping us get there, when this council security guy came over and told her bugger off. I guess if you've got no job and no money, its easy to get money off the tourists. Caught the shuttle to the stadium. What a party going on there. Music, side shows, baseball pitching cages measuring how fast you can throw a baseball. A bit further along you couldgo in the batting cage, then the kids cages as well. Oh and the FOOD !!, did I tell you sell food there, thats an under statement . I reckon it was more of a food show with a bit of baseball being played as well. I know down here in the south they are pretty religous but we got pretty close to god too , for $22 dollars you get

seats up in the rafters, great view from up there though. Did I tell you how freaking hot it was , just sitting there in the direct sun, 93 degrees. Finally the sun went down and it went down to 85 degrees, whohoo. and the humidity went up, it was like sitting in a sauna watching. We bought drinks of water from a guy downtown for a buck a bottle, they were $4.50 at at the stadium. Some things dont change. It was the New York 'Yankees ' versus the Atlanta' Braves'. The Braves won the 1st game on tuesday nite, Yankees the 2nd nite. So it was all on. The kids got free braves toy tomohawks. When the braves came out or did something good , half the crowd would chant like indians waving their tomohawks. Amazingly enough the other half of the crowd were Yankees supporters, Its a long way down fron New York to Atlanta, but they were there in big numbers. The game started at 7.10pm , by 9.00pm we weren't even half way through and the Yankees were ahead 8-1. The Braves supporters had gone very quiet, then their team had the best innings of

the game, they scored 5 runs , the crowd went wild, the Yankees changed their pitcher, it was all on. After that it was a pretty slow game. Yankees won 11 - 7. Official attendance was nearly a full house, 48,723 I think. We left the park at about 11.15pm, caught one of the many shuttle buses carrying thousands of people back to the train station , then onto our train, then to our truck back to the campground. Got into bed about 12.30am. ANOTHER BIG DAY.
Slept in again, went to get some milk as we had run out. The camp store had also run out, thats what happens when you go there at 9.00am. Had to drive to Target, saw the newspaper with Wacko,s death on it. We havent been able to get the TV going so havent seen much news. Went over to the Park again to use our 2nd day of the passes we got. Tori and I went on the Sky hike again, this time going even higher. Tori and i got up to the 3rd height, which was the top. Josh and Kylie went shopping. Came back here for lunch, then went back over

there and went through the old cotton plantation farm houses and homesteads that have been moved here for preservation. Some of the buildings date back to 1786. They cut out the ends of the wood to fit them together instead of using nails. Amazing big building considering when they were built. Then we went thru the Stone Mountain museum, much to the kids disgust. Bad luck.
Stone Mountain is the largest 'Granite' rock in the world, They started carving it in 1923, by 1928 with just one head done. They ran out of money and the sculpture and the owner fell out. Nothing happened until 1962, when the Georgia state got the project going again. It opened in May 1970, President Nikon was spose to open it but got busy , his vise president did the opening. We all know what he was busy doing !!
Came back here for a swim and got eaten alive trying to have tea outside. The camp is filling up fast. We have a nothing day tomorow, so i'll try and get some photos and video on here, but we have a crap internet connection where we are. Takes ages sometimes.
Cheers Paul and
