On Sunday, Evan finally got the boat going. He had been to a different boat shop about an hour away from his place. To get some parts he needed, They also had knee boards on special , so he bought one of those too.
Sure enough it went good as gold, I took Evan for a ski, then we tried out the kneeboard.awesome. Josh and I had a ski , then Evan blew up the ski biscuit thing. Everyone had a bit of fun on that, as its so stable to lie on.
We ran out of gas so we pulled into one of the many marina's along the lake. We just pulled into a wharf, this guy asked do you want some gas, he fills it up, we went and got some ice creams from the shop, paid up and off we went again. Too easy !!
We saw some boats being put in the water, they get stored in "dry dock" which is a big shed with shelves , that they stack the boats in. About 3 rows high, this huge forklift just picked out a boat from the shed, brings it down to the water. Puts it in, the
people turn up, start it up and off they go for the day.
After filling up Evan took us to a spot on the river where there is a sand bar. Hundreds of people converge here everyday over the weekend , to tie their boats together and party !! Families go also and the kids swim around as the water is even warmer than the warm lake( 75 degrees water temp) So we jumped overboard and had a play around on the biscuit.
Monday we got up early (7am) packed our bags, Kylie had a bad night as she had like a migraine headache, probably from dehydration from being out in the boat, or listening to us tell her good we were on the knee board!!. Had breakfast at Evans and then set off on our marathon drive to Florida. South from Evans place in Noth Carolina, through South Carolina onto I95. I95 runsfrom Canada to the bottom of Florida, some 1500 miles. Followed that down through Georgia, lunch at Wendy's. Not as much fun when you're a celiac, filled up with gas, Kylie drove for a stint. It poured down with rain during the afternoon, we saw 3 accidents
within 10 miles , during the rain. They all just slid off the road into the centre island rail, quite scary really. Then we finally hit Florida, rang dad and he said we were still 3 hours away !!!!!!! We got to Inverness about 7pm, 10 hrs after we left Hickory and 595 miles later.
Mum had made us tea, so that was nice to arrive to, we had it outside on the back patio . That looks over the lake. Only problem is the beautiful lake has dried up over the last couple of years and it looks like a pond now.The humidity down here is a lot higher, you notice it as soon as we got out of the truck.
Tuesday we had a good sleep in and headed off to look at travel trailers, theres a real nice one just around the corner from here. Dad had already been there and talked to the guy. We drove down to Orlando in the afternoon to look at a cheaper one, but you get what you pay for. He was giving away tv's with it, all sorts but it was musty and leaked. Had ants running all around
it. Just wasn't us. Hit another good thunder storm on the way home .Temperature got up to 95 today(32 celcius) thats getting hot for a bunch of white people from New Zealand. Mind you we did get a bit of a tan from being on the boat the other day.Mums been showing us what there is to eat and make for us Celiacs. I think were off to a helth shop today to see what we can buy to get us started on the road. I think the Walmarts have some stuff, its just getting to know where to buy what.
The kids are dieing to go SHOPPING!! fair enough, I said we would buy our bikes when we got down to Florida. I think were off to Walmart today. will keep you posted.
